BUDDHISM AND THE EIGHT FOLD PATH

The eight fold path is about treatment, internal treatment. You can either live haphazardly and hope happiness runs up Q Street and shakes your lazy hand, or you can live on purpose. Buddha set up the eight fold path to teach us how to live intentionally. Be active in your life and use these guidelines to find your way to inner peace.

  1. Right Virtues: Start with beliefs that compliment the serene state you strive for in life. Figure out what inner problems and values are holding you back from your fullest potential.
  2. Right Intent: Cut out superfluous activities and find out what you truly want out of life.
  3. Right Speech: Be aware of what you say. You may be surprised about what it reveals about yourself and your motives.
  4. Right Conduct: Like speech, be aware of your behaviors and what they're saying about you.
  5. Right Livelihood: Make sure how you move through time is concern on celebrating life rather than destroying it.
  6. Right Effort: This is all about the will. Use it to become self-controlled and devoted to God. Steadily climb the mountain to enlightenment. If you try to race up it you will surely stumble down.
  7. Right Mindfulness: Continuously give self-examinations. Don't be harsh on yourself, just try to understand yourself.
  8. Right Concentration: Use all you have thus learned form the eight fold path. Transform your life into a new perspective full of good energies.
