| One of the difficulties for people with a strongly developed air function is that they can get lost seeing and analyzing both sides of the coin in any argument. To know everything about a situation and to have looked at it from every side doesn't necessarily help in deciding what to do.... and if you don't have much as to water emotions are an unfamiliar and unmanaged territory. End of the story: you either rationalize, get stuck in analysis, or swept off your feet by murky emotions which opens the door to an impulse reaction which actually seems not very air like at all. |

What I am trying to find out is if Air Signs *connect* to other's emotions on a deep level. For instance, as a water sign, I can literally walk into a room and feel the general emotion of the room--is it happy, is it serious, are people shallow, etc. I can then honestly look at an individual and empathetically feel where that person is right now emotionally. Are they mad at their partner, are they feeling insecure, etc. The same goes for my friends and loved ones. When, say, my mother comes to me regarding an issue going on in her life, I am able to sense exactly how she feels about that issue on an emotional level--she's hurt because someone didn't appreciate her work, or she's feeling sad because she's getting old, whatever. This is how water signs generally *connect* with other people. I am wondering if Air Signs ever feel this type of connection with people. Not because one is better than the other, just because I honestly don't know and it doesn't really *feel* that they do. I have a Virgo Mars--I need to understand everything in intricate details and my Sag moon is always trying to uncover the truth. |

| well OP you have a libra moon, that's where your emotions are right? and it has nothing to do with compartmentalizing, doing things/reacting to things of an appropriate time and space. that's bogus. it has everything to do with putting yourself into someone else's shoes. if you can suffer the same kind of things that person has gone through, whether that's being abused, gone through physical violence, lost a loved one, or failed an exam, lost a job, whatever degree of pain, suffering one goes through - like watching the poor suffering, starvation....now THAT is one individual that understands the true depth of suffering, loss, and pain and true emotion. this is also on the feelings love, elation, and tears of joy. |

| and when you say your mother comes to you to connect, sharing her feelings...isn't that pouring herself to you? i think when your mother comes to you, she's feeling fear (fear of getting old and that's what every one goes through) and someone who didnt appreciate her work, well, you get over it. not everyone will like your work, and it's tough but she has to pull through and get through. i can honestly say that so many people in this world will never understand the depth of another human being's feelings, where and what roads theyve gone through. if a person can truly get out of their own 'self' and place themselves into that person's shoes, walk into them, they are connecting, truly and deeply understanding. so many people dont do that in this world, and so many people are very selfish and self centered sadly. and again, there are those that are very beautiful souls too, but they're so few in comparison. i'm not saying that people who are selfish.self centered are bad people but they are if they cut themselves off from other human beings. |

Posted by IntriguedScorp well it's VERY hurtful what you said in the topic. that we don't feel emotions deeply. it's like we are born into this world in a sun sign air and then we cannot feel. we bleed, cry and feel pain like everyone else, yet you didnt seem to think or feel that it would be very hurtful to us? this messageboard thinks that all air signs are robots and dont bleed, feel pain or anything. it's very hurtful and painful to have that kind of astrological way of believing. and i'm sorry if i hurt your feelings but you have to understand this really brought out something very sensitive. |

Posted by IntriguedScorp if your mother is a cold blooded woman, i'm sorry she is that way. my husband's mother is not affectionate and never hugs either (she is a sag/cap cusp) but he has great respect for that woman. and he has told me that i'm very affectionate and huggable. even our son who is a sun fire tells me that i'm a very loving mom. i'm not perfect, and he needs more attention from me (he's away on vacation)so we spend time doing things together as well. but capricorn women feel deep, they just dont show it very well - they will show it in actions. i dont know about aquarius mothers, but many astrologers say they are loving and affectionate. so really it is up to the family. |

I was just noticing it when i was reading around the boards. it's so painful to read these things and at the same time, i think to myself, gosh, what kind of god awful propaganda is doing this kind of thing? or maybe those astrologers have a nasty agenda to make air signs unfeeling monsters. like i said, no matter the sign i have seen people be incredibly insensitive selfish to the core about other people and step all over them. i can't do anything about it because it's the individuals soul to understand themselves. hurting another human brings big time karma. i realise afterward what intrigue was saying because of her mother. she judges air signs through her own experience with her mother. and i'm honestly sorry that your mother cannot connect with you and understand your pains throughout your life. |

Like for instance, my mother's favorite thing to do with me is go shopping and then have a long chat over lunch. We have great conversations and that is how we have bonded throughout the years. I will say, however, that I find I stay away from expressing my inner emotions about things because of this lack of emotional empathy. Our bond is more cerebral. On the other hand, my sister is a water sign and we don't even have to talk and we both get each other and understand exactly what is happening emotionally in a very nonjudgmental way. Again, neither is better or worse just different and good to understand. |
