All of it. It's interesting to see how many different perspectives this topic can get in here.
Personally, I was seeing education more as a lie with regards to the promise of a final secure economic success for individuals. I have come to the conclusion that paying for education in order to obtain greater degrees doesn't guarantee success or happines. It is passion for something, determination, confidence and action -putting your ideas into work- what will open for you the path to success.
Although I wouldn't trade my 18 years of education for a new pair of socks, I agree that it doesn't guarantee happiness. However, since when was it supposed to? I didn't get my BA and MA in English literature to be happy or because I thought it would make me happy, I was happy before and I'm OK now. I had the pleasure of attending a public and private institution for both degrees and it's the wisest decision I had no part in making as I applied to one school for each. I gained subjectivity and objectivity, and I'm addicted to the former. I will say that I don't necessarily orgasm at while teaching college students grammar, but that's as much as I can do until I get my PhD. I'm not used to traveling from A to B and settling in there, which is what I'm doing now.
In fact as mentioned above, most public education systems today in many parts of the world still teach the long since outdated Newtonian Physics theory in their schools.
I still recall being approached with this "We Are One" concept many years ago as a young teen and upon hearing it at the time, due to a lack of awareness and deeper understanding based on the limited traditional teachings that I had received, and a complete unawareness of Quantum Physics and Quantum Mechanics altogether, believed that the person doing the sharing at the time must have had one to many encounters with some hallucinogenic substance.
Posted by GeminiMind You can be educated of a lie. i.e Jesus had blue eyes and blonde hair. Evolution, Santa Claus, etc. So, education just means that you were taught something that is consensual and well marketed, but a lot of it is a lie.
People are taught that there's a Universe, but that's a lie..... There's a Multi-Verse that has a source, and that source is light, which creates sound, sound creates matter. Study the Solfeggio, Mandelbrot set, Cymatics, Fibonacci sequence, and the Sumerians, then you will be truly educated.
hmmm, i remember studying the fibonacci sequence when i was younger and i couldn't really wrap my mind about that butter, other things sound interesting also

That rings true now more than ever. Though the degree itself is less than the meaning behind it. That has become a given/ a pre-requisite for opportunities when dealing with employment opportunities. Def messes with the up and coming generation's ideals of what education is.

re subject: knowledge usually gets outdated when it reaches edu system, in general, 'how' kids are taught may mean more than 'what' is tried to be delivered .. but if we are realistic, we wouldn't demand too much .. common sense has never been humans' friend
I am more of a good 'listener' :p
I agree as well. How kids are taught is the key to effective learning. I think we are lacking teachers who are truly committed to their job and not just doing it for the paycheck.
