Okay, I checked the notes of what people like on me and what I prefer. People like these notes on me: sweet, floral, fruity. I prefer these notes: fruity/citrus, floral/white floral, fresh/airy. |

Dior Dolce Vita (Fall/Spring) - People tend to prefer this type of fruity/floral, warm spicy, woody, sweet fragrance on me. Calvin Klein Forbidden Euphoria (late Fall/Winter) - People seem to want to get close but I haven't heard any direct compliments. Gosh Nothing More (Summer) - Kids like this on me. I really want Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty for next Spring. I'm tired of Dolce Vita and similar spices. People also used to love Lancome Hypnose and Sun-Moon-Stars on me. I'm just not feeling them right now. |

I own nearly 20 fragrances, so narrowing it down is virtually impossible (and it took years of sampling, and severe trial and error to get this far). But my recent fascination is with vetiver essential oils. God, how I love the stuff! No vetiver EDT or EDP compares to the complexity of the actual essential oil. I only found out, several months later, that it's the recommended essential oil for Cappies in general. I've been trying to hunt down as many varieties as possible, as they all differ somewhat (and not all of them are great). But I recently discovered the most divine vetiver oil ever but, sadly, it's only available in Haiti! Luckily, I have a contact, who will get me some when they next go back there. Until then, I have a precious 1ml sample to salivate over... |

It's impossible for me to just put 3. 1. sexy Little Things Noir - Victoria's Secret 2. Flower Bomb - Viktor Rolf 3. Magnetism - Escada 4. Vanilla Bean Noelle - Bath & Body Works 5. Sweet on Paris - Bath & Body Works 6. Chance - Chanel 7. Happy Heart - Clinique Summer season Escadas are always really good (IbizaHippie, etc.)but similar in fruitiness. Same with all the Ralph by Ralph Lauren(blue, pink and purple) My mom had a nice perfume on so I asked her what it was only to find out it was Paris Hilton lol. It smells extrrrrremely similar to Ralph Lauren's Blue. |

But who cares? As health was never the issue for IFRA – they just want all the companies to be heavily reliant on aroma-chemicals, thus lining the pockets of the producers of these chemicals (who also have various connections and invested interests in many of the fragrance companies you come across in department stores). It’s all a very convenient arrangement. So, if you ever come across a tester of a fragrance you once loved, and discover that it either smells completely different or is more nauseous to wear, that’s probably the reason why…

Posted by beachkisses I used to LOVE perfumes but over the past few months, I simply can't tolerate strong scents any longer, they make me so sick and I get nauseas That’s because the fragrance houses are now using even more synthetic components than ever before, due to IFRA (International Fragrance Association) restrictions that most houses have to comply with (it’s not obligatory or illegal not to, but there will be adverse effects to a company’s ability to acquire the relevant liability insurance – a problem that no company wants). These regulations claim to be in the public interest of consumer health, by imposing safe amounts of natural essential oils in commercially available fragrances. Unfortunately, the ‘safe’ amounts are so miniscule that many fragrances released before, say, 2005 have either been discontinued or reformulated beyond recognition. The fact is, in many cases, such banned or restricted materials are only harmful to an extremely small percentage of the population. Furthermore, no-one’s considered placing a warning sticker/label on the boxes, in order to reach a reasonable compromise (for example, wearing fragrances with natural citrus oils should be avoided when exposed to the sun or UV rays). So why hasn’t a compromise like this been made? Why not leave it for the consumer to make the decision? Because these restricted or banned ingredients are substituted with aroma chemicals, produced by only a small hand-full of aroma-chemical producers. Most fragrances consist of both natural oils and aroma-chemicals – they are both of equal importance (in their own unique way) and offer the perfumer a wider palette from which to create a perfume. However, it appears that IFRA and these aroma-chemical producers are in bed with each other, and have created a cartel – underhandedly forcing fragrances companies to rely on higher concentrations of aroma-chemicals, at the expense of natural essential oils (thus endangering the existence of the producers and distillers of these oils). And while IFRA goes on the witch-hunt, dictating how much of a natural component can be used in a fragrance (if at all), there is hardly any sufficient and credible long-term scientific studies on the effects of these aroma-chemicals on humans.

I won't lie, I have a disgustingly huge perfume collection, I have a bit of an addiction, so I'm picking six favorites. 1. Coco Mademoiselle - Chanel (My best friend jokes and says this smell reminds her of me, no matter who is wearing it) 2. Euphoria - CK (I've been stopped many times by men asking me what I'm wearing) 3. Juicy Couture - Juicy Couture (it's a classic floral but with a little something special I can't put my finger on) 4. Black Amethyst - B&BW (if Coco Mademoiselle and Euphoria had a baby, in my opinion) 5. Karma - LUSH COSMETICS (an orange patchouli heaven <3) 6. Flower bomb - V&R (perfect winter scent, Sensual Amber from B&BW smells insanely similar) |
