Posted by starlover Actually, I've been doing this for the last 3-4 years. I didn't know what the hell was going on with my headaches until the chiro told me they were tension and that just keeping things loose in my neck would help significantly. My headaches disappeared after they put me through a regimen for a month or so. |
Posted by starlover Yep. Keep doing what you're doing. It's how I treat my tension headaches- stretching, lots of water, and advil. |
| I was suffering from what i thought were migraines for years...they would last for 3 days at a time and come on every few weeks. Sometimes i would vomit up to 12 times a day with them. About a year ago my doc sent me to hospital for an x ray which revealed i had quite severe neck arthritis! I now do yoga neck stretches every day and they are a lot better. I also use a gel called deep freeze and also deep heat cream and this helps a lot. Does anyone else suffer from headaches and have any tips? |
| I can only imagine. I suffer from tension headaches and if I don't work to prevent them when I feel them coming on, I'm down for the count because they can get THAT crappy. Nausea, light sensitivity, etc. THOSE suck enough as it is, so for the pain that they describe here? Wow. |
| Wow, yeah - I've had a friend who also suffered from them. She would be out of work and school for a week recouping. She is an Aries, but anyway... she said the psychological and physiological pain had almost become so unbearable to where she wasn't sure if she her body could literally handle it. She'd spend hours waiting for her eyes and ears to start bleeding from the pressure. |
| You're friend can get Dmso lotion like one of the forum member suggested. It might help. It's not a well known substance because of big pharma politics. Just let your friend research it first because it needs to be handled a certain way since it can transport anything to the blood stream. There are ready dmso lotion online, I think those are better than doing it at home. |
| Here's some info I got from a website DMSO treatment seems to have worked « on: May 20th, 2003, 12:34pm » Quote Modify -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After a 3 year absence I began to have cluster headaches again. Working on the theory that they may be caused by swelling nerves in the head/scalp I smeared on a good quantity of DMSO gel on the back of my neck and on the right side of my head where the pain was the worst. Instead of lasting the usual 1 to 1 1/2 hours my headaches were gone in 5 minutes. I have repeated this program twice and it worked both times. DMSO apparently has the ability to reduce inflamation so if clusters are caused by inflamed nerves and blood vessels maybe that explains why the treatment worked for me. I would be interested if anyone else has had a try with DMSO. In Canada the quickest way to get DMSO is to visit your local vet and say it is for your horse. It is said to penetrate the skin quickly and harmlessly. DMSO perhaps has been used most widely as a topical analgesic, in a 70 percent DMSO, 30 percent water solution. Laboratory studies suggest that DMSO cuts pain by blocking peripheral nerve C fibers. Several clinical trials have demonstrated its effectiveness although in one trial, no benefit was found.6 Burns, cuts, and sprains have been treated with DMSO. Relief is reported to be almost immediate, lasting up to 6 hours. A number of sports teams and Olympic athletes have used DMSO, although some have since moved on to other treatment modalities. When administration ceases, so do the effects of the drug. Anxious to see how this stands up to Ueli's scrutiny. Here is a link to a website: http://www.dmso.org/ |
| I thought the worst pain was child birth. Let me tell you the worse headache is fighting with your woman. Now thats a headache. |
Posted by AquaDashPosted by P-Angel I don't think you understand how severe cluster headaches are. Scientists don't even know what the cure is to this. |
Posted by P-Angel P-Angel: The only thing I could recommend at this point for your friends' symptom is lavender essential oil. The Body Shop sells it. Have her draw a luke warm bath, put in a few drops of the oil in the water, and tell her to soak her body for 15-30 minutes. Another option is to mix in some of the lavender essential oil with her face cream, at night only. I fond that it will keep her calm, and relaxed. But make sure she consults with a dermotlogist first if she suffers from sensitive skin, rosacea, or acne. If the lavender essential oil is too strong for her, an alternative would be a lavender toner for the face. I would recommend that she applies this at night after she cleans her face, and before she put on her nightly face cream. I hope this helps. |
Posted by P-Angel I have a headache when I read your worthless treetrunking posts. |
