Many believe mainstream hip hop lacks substance and authenticity, leading to a decline in its cultural value. Some artists like Jay Rock and J. Cole are seen as keeping the genre meaningful, while others feel it has become more commercialized. The debate continues about whether hip hop can retain its depth amid evolving industry trends.

Because there is no substance in mainstream hip hop.
Anyway, I know what you're trying to do, you're asking who I listen to, not because you are genuinely interested in what I listen to, but because you are trying to "guage" who I am by the choices I make...like the whole eclectic thing.
But if you're really interested, I listen to everything..lately..it's been..
Jay Rock, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Lupe Fiasco, and Big Boi.
lol
and I must assume you're trying to gauge who I am,

Idk how you're saying hip-hop is dead, everyone wants to say they're hip hop tryna be a star. It's alive as ever. Maybe you mean gangster rap is dead? Ya I'm a little sad WEST COAST gangster rap is basically dead but the south and east isn't - just a different style .
