How to deal with leo man..confused

I have known my leo man for many years but as a friend but from 5 months or so we have told each other of our deep feelings. Things have been serious, fun etc. He doesn't live in the same state as me currently so we chat and talk quiet a lot. He works very hard and recently he told me how it's draining him out. I got concerned nd told him that I will back off from chat so he can concentrate on his work nd feel less stressed out ( as he needs to make time for me). I told him that will prefer to hear his sexy voice instead ( teasing him lightly). He says ok no worries if I say so ( response didn't sit well w me but didn't show any reaction to it).
Anyways since then something changed. I do go and chat but not everyday. He was sweet nd passionate on chat but from past couple of days he stopped calling me. I left missed calls the same day to check how he was holding up...offcourse he didn't pick up... Next day on chat he apologized and had some excuse which i didn't argue or question at all but he never returned my calls the next day also. I called him again for some project help after a day and he was on call so he didn't pick up ( he told me the same time on chat). He told me on chat he will catch up after dinner and i didn't go on chat as i got busy. He never called me back so i called again the same day as i thought i have to keep my pride down for now and see how this goes. Our convo was lighthearted. I didn't complain about him not calling me etc. Instead we talked a bit and then there was this pause ( which i felt due to some connection prob) I said to him that probably he is not in a mood to tlk to me. He reacted that he was talking and suddenly where did this come from. We had a light argument..no biggie...he says i assume things and whereas he never does...blah blah ...I was like i don't assume...its his actions..i told him that if he will say he doesn't mind if i come or not on chat then offcourse i will think that he doesn't care( in my mind i was bothered that he didn't call me so i guess i showed him a little reaction). Anyways some awkward silence and then i say bye and he says bye too.
I have decided not to call him and wait for him to call me but should i cut off all contacts or i still go on chat but not call..I am so confused..Leo men are hard work..which i am willing to do but i need something in return too. I love him but not sure of right approach.

My guess is that he is testing me to see how i can keep my words and as i mentioned that would love to hear from him he purposely stopped calling me. He knows i hate to be ignored so he made sure to apologize first thing when we chatted. or i am giving him less attention then earlier and that is not sitting well w him. I have read lots of post from some awesome ladies who are pro when it comes leo men...pls help me guys...One thing i would like to mention that when i called him last time he said something which i laughed at it and said that he is such a sweet talker..he said that he can be serious rt now but i was like no way...then he goes on to say that Marry me!!!...( which i know is not possible for us due to some personal issues for now) so i laughed at it again calling him a sweet talker....he goes on to say how can i be so sure...he was like he can be serious also...i was like no way...
My guess he was just playing w me...so i didn't take him seriously...so you guys think that leo men tease u w such serious stuff...i know he loves to tease me..whatever i say it has to be fun and teasing for him....
Just help me w the best approach...Thank you all so much...
