it is not only a matter of house design, the cats have some behavioral rules the choose their waste places. First, you need to know that the cat will always prefer to do his businees in the most far possible place from where he eats and sleeps. If you put the litter near one of those spots, he will begin to do businees out of it, at some other place. The bathroom cabinet is a good idea, because he can smell that there is the place where you also choose to do your businees, just place his bed and food far way from there.

i used to keep mine in the hallway by the front door...there was a window right by it, which helped the odour. the flat was quite small, but it worked

Our Deepest Fear Our deepest

So I just moved into a small apartment and was wanting to get a cat. The problem is where to put the litter box? I have several places in mind, but I'm still not sure.

I have this purrfect little corner in the kitchen....but wouldn't a litter box in the kitchen be eww? I have another perfect little corner in the living room that's kind of hidden and no one would really see it back there. However, I'm not sure how great a litter box would work in a living room. I also did not really want to put the litter box anywhere where there was carpet and the living room is fully carpeted. I have this decent sized walk in closet in my bedroom, but there is carpet in there as well. There is always the option of the bathroom as well, but I've had a litter box in my bathroom before and it always got in the way. I was reading where someone took one of the doors off of a cabinent in the bathroom and stuck the litter box in there. I really like that idea too.

I just want a spot where it's out of the way and where litter wont be tracked all over the place and odor wont be an issue. Any ideas?
