okay....anyone been to Paris?

i'd like to spend the Christmas holiday this year in France.

any suggestions on hotels or accomodations?

i really would like somewhere where i can see the eiffel tower from my window.

not too touristy posh pricey...i want the real experience.

any advice would be lovely

i spent christmas time in london and paris last year and i froze my buns off! mind you i am a southern california native and anything under 70 degrees is freezing to me it was very beautiful but it was also very crowded. the day that i went to the louvre we waited a little over an hour to get inside the building just to buy the tickets (our bad for not purchasing ahead of time online) so pretty much all the touristy destinations were like that. the hotel i stayed (sublime eiffel) did not have a view of the tower, we chose to stay there though because it was close to the metro but it was basically a 3 minute ride to the eiffel tower (or 15 if you walk). my advise: don't forget your wellies

The queue is always long for the Eiffel tower.
The view's alright though.
Ask a French person for directions in your best touristy accent, just for a laugh.
