Seems strange how I used to look down at the ground whenever I would miss you.
At times, during the day, and triple the time by daylight.
I would look to the vastness and maw
as if answers would sprout up and grow from the floor
The vastness was firm friend back then you see.
It' always there for you, as it is for me
Those many thousands times

Time to look up.

Thanksgiving Day Pickle

(A Thxgiving Day Poem based on actual events)

Pickle, Pickle, Pickle
What a Thanksgiving Day Pickle.
Her sister wanted stuffing---
I offered her the plate---
She said my kindness warmed her muffin.

There was no choice--
I had to eat alongside her.
We talked about life and her mating habits of a spider.
Which naturally made me think---
Surely someone spiked the cider.

When the turkey came around---
She offered me her breast--
now I was sure this was all a test,
cause she didn't flirt with other guests.

Pickle, pickle, pickle....
What a Thanksgiving Day Pickle.

Later that night she revealed that
she always liked me--- head-to-toe.
I instantly excused myself
and ran back to the still warm
--mashed potatoes.

I bet this all sounds like an exaggerated tale or some old fable.
But I can assure you that next year....
I'm sitting at the children's table.
