I really don't understand how anyone can expect others to continue with the pretence, after discovering that they look considerably different IRL. Firstly, it's a conscious form of deception and, secondly, it adversely changes how the deceiver is perceived.
Expecting someone to shrug off the obvious physical inconsistencies and play along is very deluded. Such people are just setting themselves up for a fall, time and time again.
To some degree, we're all superficial when it comes to physical attraction but, if love is truly blind and such people consider themselves a great catch, why resort to deceit in the first place?
All 'misrepresentation' does is create an awkward situation for the person being deceived...
