There are more interesting break up movies
Certainly true but the same can be said about a lot of movies that are very good. The example that comes to mind for me is Manchester by the Sea. Very basic story, yet one of the best movies of the recent years and, to me, a movie that is perfect in the sense of flawless.
I'm not saying this is the case for this one because there are som hiccups and things that may have annoyed me. Just wanted to point out that a simple and even unremarkable plot can beat a complex or just interesting plotline.
It was just okay for me. I think it was interesting to see Adam Driver beyond Kylo Ren, and I have to say that I like him. Tbh though, I think that the actual movie “The Breakup” with Jenifer Aniston and Vince Vaughan did the same thing for me, but with more humor and was more relatable. For some reason, I was finding Scarjo’s character very annoying. Like she was instigating it all and making it all unnecessarily harder and way more volatile and dramatic than it needed to be. It was more difficult for me to see her side, and I found myself empathizing with Adam Driver’s character.
I definetly can see the just okay. I may even end up there as well weren't it for the factor that still bugs me and that's the one that might make him easier to sympathize with than her. I too empathized more with him, especially in one particular moment, but I assumed it might have been because I'm male as well and that gender played a role when it comes to interacting with the movie. That's what motivated me to do to this thread because I needed different opinions and impressions on this.click to expand
