It was the first ski run of the morning and the sun was just coming over the top of the mountain in a sleepy Alpine village in France. I was skiing alone, making my way down the mountain on freshly fallen snow, carving my own paths. Only the diehard skiers were out. I get to the bottom of the mountain and get on a chair lift with this 60 year old Italian man. We take the chairlift up, silently, looking up. Passing the quiet Aspen trees that lines our path.
Over the crest of the mountain, the sun rays rose like a crown of gold. It was quiet. It was peaceful. I looked over to my chair mate and we smiled at each other. What I felt at that moment was pure and complete harmony. The kind of harmony where you realize you are one with nature and your fellow man.
We got off the chair. I said "bye", my chair mate said "Arrivederci!" We loved each other for that moment and then we parted ways...
