The graphics and the artwork looks decent enough - but the content and the story... looks so recycled. ?

For start - we have the typical stuff from the previous Alien series, where... once again - we get to see another group of naive explorers - who makes you think of a group of drunk/drugged teens visiting a foreign country - instead of a highly qualified personnel who's bound to follow a tons of safety protocols (like: handling the exploration through drones and robots - from afar / this guys don't even wear safety suits - they act as if they're born there). And then - there's the same old story we've seen in many horror movies:

- a victim locked inside with some kind of monster - while on the outside we have a crying coward who apologizes and runs away... ^^
- the shower scene... a dangerous monster is running loose - while those two - decide that it's a good idea to have passionate sex in the shower (duh for the 100th time...).

It's like the comments say: when will they start sending the smart scientists on these space exploration missions?

As @juliette pointed out - some scientists are purely intellectual, they seem to lack an empirical comprehension of the real world (any world - even our own). So - maybe they used those as a source of inspiration. ^^

Stupid sells. If it's to pragmatic - it gets boring.

this a sequel of prometheus i think. i will def watch it, though i have mixed feelings about prometheus, but allegedly they are going to explain everything in this movie and the next. i love ridley, but i sense they don't give them freedom as they used to have when making a movie.

They let him actually release The Counsellor. And Exodus. Both bad films (but bad in a way that makes me love Ridley). I think he probably hopped on these projects to pay them back.

ok my guy who is with me right now and he is related to this art world says that ridley got scarred, that he won't get an opportunity to work, especially since his brother died. prometheus doesn't look like he did it, but he did.
counseller has a really bad rating. i didn't watch exodus but i downloaded it, maybe i will watch it today. make a ridley scott day

Fair play. I can believe that. Since his brother died, he's been on this mode of being everywhere, his name on everything. Involved in even more movies than before, but it just seems like he's doing them by the numbers and just putting little personal moments in each one.

Exodus is a bad film. It's Gladiator all over again. But there is one scene right at the end of the film that is his, because you realise in that moment he actually filmed it for a different audience than the Hollywood audience.

Counsellor is terrible as a film lol but it's still very rewarding. Out of all the films I've seen recently, that's the one that has made me think about things from a different perspective the most.

I love Ridley no matter what. Kingdom of Heaven is one of my favourite films.

he says that is also his favorite movie ever from him along with an alien and blade runner so he says hello to you, and i didn't watch it! he says he always had a great crew around him like walter hill, copola etc. and we also love his brother.

Tell him hi from me! My mentor and close family friend used to work with Coppola. That was a very long time ago. And his brother works within Dune studio. It's been a long time since I knew anything about that world and I made such a mess of it within six months I tried to be a film agent that it was obvious to everyone (and me) I'm better off just doing something else.

lol most of my friends are scientist. while they are smart while working in a lab, sending them anywhere is a complete disaster. i mean even crossing the street. ok, now i'm mean. but the facts are facts.

I dunno how he's going to handle producing Blade Runner 2049 (unless it's literally that he just has his name on it) and directing an Alien remake in one summer without them both being, at best, standard or worse.

Although there are a few similarities, I doubt this is a remake. There are 3 confirmed Aliens in the movie and there will be 2 sequels to this movie - which will basically connect these prequels to Alien (1979).

Well, I used the wrong terminology but remake, prequel, sequel - at this point I don't see the difference.

Especially when Ridley basically lied about Exodus not being Gladiator done all over again. Don't get me wrong, I'll always be his fan. But he's 75 and just wants to travel around making 1-2 films a year now.

Remake - some movie done all over again with little to no deviation from source material. (E.g. Ben-Hur)

Prequel - A film set before an event or another movie. (E.g. Prometheus to Alien)

Sequel - continuation. (E.g. Aliens, etc.)

Reboot - same story told differently. (Battlestar Galactica ran reimagined series spanning 5 seasons, pretty much reusing a few key things from 1979/1980 original).

blade runner = most overrated movie of all times

It's one of my all time favorite movies. I don't think overrated is the right word to use.

Trailer sucks, so the movie is gonna suck even harder. Isn't that the norm these days anyway? It's mostly washed-up franchise reboots these days.

nothing that I have not already seen in previous alien movies

Do you think this movie is going to be worth seeing? I mean, it is being directed by Ridley Scott and the cast seems to be very solid.

As far as this trailer goes, I'm inclined to believe there will be a lot of things in the movie which aren't shown in the trailer. Keep in mind this is a direct sequel to Prometheus.

I'll definitely see it, but will probably be disappointed.
It looks like fanfiction with a big budget. They're not moving on from the visuals of the first movies
