Animals vs Car

This is bugging me. I was driving on the freeway, going 65 mph to Ft. Lauderdale. A cat randomly bolt out in front of me. I hit the cat. It happened in a split second. No I didn't slam on the breaks because it happened so fast. There was nothing I c
Just cry, let it all out. And then you'll be fine. works for me. I was driving once, and a bunny jumped out in between my tires--from the driver's side, the back tires. It was fast, I would've never been able to stop in time. Like he jumped between my front and back tires from the side is what I mean.
Then I cried. then I got over it.

That's fast driving .. so it must have been an interstate, rather than a freeway.

It's doubtful a pet would be on the interstate ... it must have been a stray.

Cats don't always die from being by cars ... they have the uncanny ability to flip themselves over, so you only run over their back legs .. then they crawl to a ditch and suffer for days.

did you even bother to go back?

If there is a neighborhood close enough to the interstate, in where the cat could have lived ... it would have been a nice gesture to go back and scoop the cat up (if it's dead) and go lay it on the sidewalk or curb of the subdivision so the owners could find it, and bury, and get closure ... rather than see it as a pancake on the road.

But, then again .. most people think about their own feelings, and how they, themselves are going to deal with their own feelings of grief.

No I didn't. I didn't look back at it. If I did, it would of been dangerous of me stepping onto the highway because it was busy with the speed limit of 70.

Maybe late tonight when there's barely traffic, you can go find the kitty and take the remains to the nearby subdivision. I'm sure it's family would rather see it's remains, then have to live with the thought that the cat is lost, or even worse ... injured.

Here in Southern Florida the highways are always busy. Day or night. It doesn't matter. Where I hit the cat was near Ft Lauderdale. I live in Doral which is west of Miami.

Those and squirrels the most.

The latest I saw was a fox.

The saw a big dog dead on the freeway off the 215 s... lots of traffic no way to scoop up. Someone lost a dog or literally how a dog gets to the freeway. It looked like a well feed guard dog.

I hit a bunny the other night. I bawled my face off all night. I still am just feeling like butter over it. A treetrunking cute furry face with wiggle nose bunny. It just hauled ass under my car and I didn't have a chance to move because a truck was coming. Ugh I feel your pain.

Fierce mild.
It's a long shot, but if the area has a craigslist or an open FB pet forum, you might leave a little note, describing the area and the cat as best you can recall.

Yea it smelled like sewer gas almost. I had a bit of a mess on the tire and some on the fender. Mind that it managed to get hit by the left side. Coming from the right side. So yea, if there was any attempt to get it scooped off the road, I would be in danger of getting hit myself.
I know countless time I try to avoid already road kill if I see it, sometimes I can't see it until right there, it comes through the vent of my car. Did you have that smell?
Did you know even if you did help it scoop up, you are responsible for that bill if you decide to take it to the vet. And Even being a good Samaritan.

I ran over a dog before, it looked like a lab mix. I pulled over and it was still alive. I tried to help it somehow by getting it's possible owner. Despite what I did, I watched it die. It disturbed me for awhile because I love dogs. But I got over it.

Just have a beer and don't worry about it man. You won't meet the cat's owner to get scolded or anything. They should of kept the cat inside to where it couldn't go run out on the freeway.

Im starting to get over it. With some time of thinking anyways.
