Hello. I live in Legazpi, Philippines, which is in itself already a tourist destination since it's the perfect place to view the majestic and spectacular Mayon Volcano, a nearly-perfect shaped volcano.

Legazpi is also the jump-off point to so many interesting places to visit, among which are white-sand beaches, waterfalls, old churches built during the Spanish colonial period, rolling hills, beautiful islands, and many more!

We also have a distinct cuisine distinguishable from the general Filipino cuisine. Our cuisine has also attained a notorious identity due to the heavy use of coconut milk and chili peppers. Look for Bicolano cuisine and have a taste of the local delicacies at some local restaurants serving them!

Some interesting places to visit:

1. Legazpi City - for the panoramic view of Mayon Volcano and Pacific Ocean

2. Caramoan Peninsula and surrounding islands - beautiful white-sand beaches and islands filled with limestone cliffs and surrounded by beautiful coral reefs

3. Subic Beach in Matnog, Sorsogon and surrounding islands - off the southernmost tip of the island of Luzon is the pink-colored beach known as Subic Beach. Near and around it are other attractions such as the Juag Fish Sanctuary and Biri island (about 3 hours away)

4. Quitinday Hills in Camalig, Albay - popularly known as Green Hills due to their color and shape but also known as Pili Nut Hills. To my mind, it's more appropriate to call it "Crocodile Hills." Their interesting shape would tell you why they're called as such.

5. Quitinday Underground River - it's a river inside a cave, hence, the name. Somewhere along the way there's a waterfalls to accentuate your experience. Cool, refreshing waters too.

I went there in March & the whole trip felt way too short. Balesin Island is paradise, you just have to know someone who's a member so you can go. Palawan is beautiful as well, especially the caves & grottos. I didn't mind the traffic & overcrowding in Metro Manila since I was too busy soaking in the fact that I was there. Vigan is nice if you like history, since everything is still kept intact from the Spanish colonial days. The Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo has to be one of the best museums I've ever been to, from the setup of the galleries & exhibits to the actual pieces being featured, and it was interesting seeing the anti-Marcos perspective from the stories of artists during the martial law period compared to the pro-Marcos viewpoint at the Marcos Museum in Ilocos Norte (both were equally fascinating though).

If you can, I suggest avoiding Manila. The city was too overpopulated, polluted, and had congested traffic nearly 24/7. During the summer I visited Coron. It's becoming more tourist-oriented, but not as much as Boracay. There are also a lot of activities and packages that they offer, where you can island hop, snorkel with the fish, etc. You can find and connect with nature. Such a majestic place, wishing to go back before too much human / tourist activity ruins the magic.

That's what I've been hearing from people. That it's slowly becoming more popular, but for now it's still better than Bali or Thailand.
Snorkelling and island hopping sounds like a dream. I've seen some good accommodation prices too for really beautiful looking places!!

Yes. Certain places also provide an all-inclusive tour package, where one tour is nature-oriented and another for beach / tanning (hopping between multiple white sand beaches).

They both sound great. Maybe will even do both. I think we're planning on going for two weeks.

That's awesome. We stayed in Coron for 3 days, though a day or two more would've been perfect. If you end up going for two weeks, consider a detour to El Nido as well. (In case you might get bored since Coron is not a fully developed tourist location / doesn't have much forms of entertainment.)

Yeah I've thought of that. I think we'll relocate after a while. I don't see us staying in one place the entire time!!

Manila: just a big city quite similar to mine with less traffic, nothing really interesting here..

Davao: almost the same. I was a bit pissed when I went there, wanted to wander around at 10PM and the concierge stopped us, because we were a girls squad with no men.. and said the city is not quiet safe for women to wander around without any men above 10 PM 😂

Went to paradise island, it was alright...

El nido, palawan: I LOVE IT! you should go here straight instead of visiting the cities... On a scale of 1- 10 this place hits 9 in my travel book..

The one that hits the perfect score of 10 for me is always Raja Ampat, papua.. Damn...If only it's easier to reach like Bali... it was really really magical 💕

What do you love about el nido, palawan specifically?!

Siargao, if you surf. Bohol offer some gorgeous beaches too and there are other activities and landmarks other than the beach.

I heard siargao is even good by non surfers. Apparently really quiet beaches for just bumming around!
