errr kind of a rarity these days, most of america is poor now so mostly in the same class. unless this is geared to outside of the usa.

It's interesting you said that. I was wondering how come the Americans in 90 day fiance seem to be huge brats when they visited the Philippines, Russia etc. And yet when their homes were shown in the 90 fiance, they didn't even seem to live a lavish life style .

    oh wow

never use reality tv to make judgments about large groups of people

I'm not judging. I was actually asking. Since Rabid mentioned that most Americans are poor. I don't live in America so I was curious.

    hmm poverty is relative.

American poverty is not due to income. It's due to the cost of living.
Working-class salaries, as well as even some household incomes that fall below the poverty line for its relative size in the US, are middle class or even high earning households in countries abroad.

e.g - one person on permanent disability in the US could live comfortably ( rent a one-bedroom apartment, have enough money to eat, travel or save in a lot of European cities )

It is due to income. Income isn’t increasing at the same rate as inflation.

It's the same everywhere else I reckon. Back in the day, you make 40K a year and you can buy a house for 200K. That's still affordable. Now, you make 80K a year and the price of houses cost 700K at minimum. You'd be working all your life to afford a home at least where I am.

Median income is roughly $ 70,000 per household. Household is key. The majority of single people is still making around $ 35-40k in US.

Average is dragged up by how much the top makes.

Oh wow. That is pretty low. 70K USD is one person's salary here in Melbourne. And Sydney peeps get paid so much more than us. And yet we actually complain about it. There are some here that gets paid lower, I think on average is like 65K AUD but it's like a fresh grads salary.

    yeah but $ 1 US = $ 1.57 AU.

It kinds of ends up being the same thing except when you are talking about higher-earning households.

    40k us = 62.8 k au

    vs

avg doctor in us makes 300k us per year
    doctor in au makes 120-250 k au per year = 76 - 160k us a year
