    this looks interesting..would watch lol...

thought they were Mormons at first glance...

    I love Mormons...

    LMAO

    lol...what? They're great people IME...

In my old condo, my neighbors were Mormon (not the polygamist sect still taking orders from an imprisoned Warren Jeffs obviously). They became like family. It was actually shocking how kind they were. At first, I noticed whenever the husband would fertilize his lawn, he'd come over and do mine as well. He'd also treat the outside of my place for bugs. Always asking if I needed help with anything, and I did eventually....He was really handy.

They invited me over for dinner and we'd talk for hours, we watched documentaries together. I found them to be extremely open-minded even around religious/metaphysical subjects. I remember they invited my girl and I to a birthday party for a member of their family at the pool in our complex. There were like 100 people there with blonde hair/blue eyes, and just me and my Peruvian gf hanging out in the middle of them, and I've never felt more accepted or comfortable lol....The husband eventually was diagnosed with a brain tumor and he deteriorated rapidly. He became partially paralyzed, and I used to have a baby monitor in my place, listen for him if he fell trying to get up at night to use the bathroom, and go over to help the wife pick him up....I've never been that close with any neighbors...

Often throughout my life I've found these sort of cultish groups to just be better at socializing/group-bonding, even with outsiders, even though they're often very ideologically insulated in some ways....just my experience though...

I’ve always met nice Mormons like this. Other denominations too. Christians in general have been people I prefer to keep as friends and I like their values. I’ve had some good luck with the Christians I I’ve befriended they’re usually open-minded and accepting of others.

I know of some Christians, usually evangelists, that try to tell you that non-Christian music has demons in it, that people can be possessed by demons by watching porn, and being gay is a choice. 😆 those are the kind of Christians I can’t deal with.

Very similar experience. Though its cool and trendy to bash religion, I love religions and religious people, see much value in it and have learned a ton from my study of religion, and I consider myself to be a religious person, though I sort of have my own extremely eclectic religion (I think most people do at the end of the day though they focus on core beliefs to have group-identity) that is basically a form of Universalism. I see religion as an adaptive phenomena as more and more anthropologists and evolutionary psychologists are trending towards, with all sorts of benefits, though I may not agree with any particular modality of it. The extreme Charismatic strain of Christianity which is almost akin to forms of paganism in associating a good or bad spirit with every object, interests me as well, and I tend to even be open-minded towards views around demon-possession just based on life experiences. None of my friends of that religious persuasion were ever open to performing an exorcism on me when pressed though lol...
