As someone who can also be bitter about love, eh I don't think it's exactly a lie.

In many third world countries, there's no Hallmark or marketing schmes to condition people. But I feel like some of the poorest people are the most happiest simply because they have love.

There's also conditional and unconditional love. I think most families are taught to practice unconditional love and when it comes to interacting with strangers and developing friendship and relationship love, it's conditional. I also think many people confuse love with infatuation. Infatuation is selfish, not selfless.

I think the most purest love in the world can be seen from a mother to their child. Like for instance I've noted my mom not eating certain dishes at all because she knows I love them and would save it for me even though I'd argue I'm really okay without the entire thing. I think genuine love is when you naturally put someone else before yourself without thinking twice. It's selfless. Selfless love turns off the brain's reward centers. You genuinely don't look for or want anything in return.

But I do think my parents expect me not to send them to retirement homes SOO Tongue
