Kazuya was a great boss villain. I remember losing to him 27 times in a row but I didn't mind because his stage music was so good. Dramatic in a J-drama sort of way yet the music implies Kazuya's inner motivations and internal conflict. Such was the Playstation's hardware limitations at the time, background stages, lighting, music and character design were crucial for creating atmosphere and intrigue around the game's story. For a fighting game which are usually light on narrative to begin with, Tekken 2 really got it right which paved the way for its seminal sequel.
Then when you finally beat the game you're treated to this. Enduring all those beatdowns was worth it in the end. Landscape Under the Ghost Kaminano
Bless you @roti and thank you 😊🙏
I kept forgetting to respond to your post here.
I'm out and about so I'll post now though.
I remember when Tekken 2 was released in
the arcade and then for the Sony PlayStation.
Tekken 2 and Virtua Fighter were beautiful
beautiful games to see be released because
of the new graphics at the time. Tekken was
easier for me to get into.
Tekken always had good music too. Prodigy, band
from the UK i love influenced TEKKEN 3 soundtrack
from what I've read about the game before.
And the soundtrack was also good.
But yeah I agree with every single thing you
say about Tekken, the story and everything.
Plus Kazuya wasn't necessarily a "good"
character either as he was the protagonist
and that was very unique for the time.
He wasn't trying to save the world.
Just throw his father off a cliff 😶...
The series really did do some unique things
for the series and fighting game genre as a whole
Thank you for sharing. I’m glad I’m not alone in having a deep appreciation for this series.
That intro movie takes me back, no matter how many times I saw it already, I’d let it play to the end.
You immediately feel a sense of what this game is about from that intro. The final shot is beautiful of Angel embracing Kazuya at the top floor of a skyscraper overlooking a black winter nights sky..
Tekken 2 was dark af when you consider that Heihachi was the protagonist. I found that strange as a kid. But I guess not everything is black and white was the lesson.
I was glad Kazuya got added to Smash Bros roster. He’s finally getting his dues, it can’t always be about Jin 😚
The music has always been solid throughout the series. Perhaps after Tekken 5 it became more generic to suit the times, the emphasis being on competitive gameplay (e-sport) over everything.
Tekken 3’s OST is notable. Super good. That big beat, trip-hop, guitar driven, Prodigy sound. Amazing presentation, a leap forward in style and gameplay.
One final thing, Netflix will release a Tekken anime in August covering the events between Tekken 2 and 3. Check out the trailer ✌🏼
EXACTLY EXACTLY, @roti. You have it all in one*!!!
I'm supposed to be doing some things over here but your message,
It's just so so on point I had to respond! AND I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT
THE INTRO FOR TEKKEN 2. I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN.
I replay it even when I come here to this thread lol.
It just bring me back in time in the 90s that I can't even fully express.
And if I try to express I feel it some how dwindles the meaning and importance of it all.
I'll just say the smell and beauty of that time runs through that intro and that's why I always return.
What you say about things not being so black and white too --oh my goodness, yes.
I think Tekken got it right too because looking at a fighting game
from the story perspective, which even around this time it was
extremely vague, but Namco did a great job bringing it close to our reality where
everyone has a shadow side and personal imperfections! No one is squeaky clean.
And even if you are, you still have things you are working on about yourself. That was Tekken.
Do you remember when Jin won Tekken 5 and then became ruler around Tekken 6?
He started to look just like his father or maybe even his grandfather when we all
thought he was better than both of them!
And the music you were saying around
Tekken 6. I agree 100% +. The music before that was more...
revolutionary because it was DIFFERENT and took on new sound
than the other fighting games. Granted, STIII finally decided to explore
different sound too (DNB/HOUSE/HIPHOP ETC) But both SF and TEKKN sound bland a bit now.
Also too, Tekken I think had to take a bit of time to shine because of
games like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter were just on top at the time..
But as the years went on, those two just lost their way where TEKKEN just stayed
to its roots and improved on it.. Tekken is definitely my favorite out of the bunch.
EDIT: Oh YESS I seen I seenthe Trailer. It looks so nice. TEKKEN 3 I love so much too. 1997❤️
--------------------------------------
Lol I didn’t mean to take up your time but thank you for taking the time to respond.
Tekken 2’s intro has depth. Just from a few seconds we get to know the vibe of each character introduced to us. It’s very of its time (the music, graphics) yet timeless.
There’s little hints in the first Tekken that Kazuya isn’t what he seems and isn’t a hero. He has a secret costume revealing his devil form. And well his ending lol. It’s those details that made Tekken standout. The director of 1 and 2 also worked on Virtua Fighter. Namco wanted Tekken to be a low cost alternative to VF with personality.
Yes Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter took most of the attention away for awhile, Tekken 7 redeemed itself adding new game mechanics & guest characters. The story is retconned to hell but it is what it is.
Tekken used real martial artists motion capture to bring authenticity to its games. This was so cool to me and perfectly synchronised to the music.
The intro to Tekken Tag Tournament truly felt like we were entering a new century. It was exciting to witness the leap in graphical power and creativity. It still looks and sounds good today. My boy Kazuya reclaiming his poster boy status from Jin once again 😅click to expand

mj? so he could molest more small boys?
Can yall shut up with that. He did not molest anyone, and the fact that ppl still bring it up when he’s already passed is quite sad and haunting.
His music, dancing, even his style is legendary, but there's no disguising he was a child abuser. There's just too much evidence to deny it; it would be like saying George Bush Jr isn't a war criminal. It's also a really sore point as I know he had mental health issues, but it's utterly shameful.
Didn’t you also believe Johnny Depp abused Amber Heard? I remember you made some jokes about him being an abuser. I mean if anyone really believes he was a woman beater at this point that’s crazy to me.
MJ isn’t here to defend himself and has passed away. There’s also evidence that shows the opposite, that he was innocent. And if you were in his shoes cant you see how it would be pretty sad to be falsely accused of being probably the worst thing a person can be. And no one believes you werent and still saying you were even after you’re well and gone? That’s the worst thing to accuse of someone
I said Depp is a swinger sometimes he swings with his left, sometimes with his right. I think the case could have gone either way early on with a better legal team and if Heard wasn't mental.
They made a documentary about it. Leaving Neverland. If it is false why were they never sued? Why did he pay off the families of children that took him to court? Why were indecent pictures found in Neverland? It ain't a false accusation. I heard jokes about him in the early 90s, it's been going on for decades.
I know it's sad. There's people I like who are despicable individuals. I like the legacy Walt Disney created, but there's no doubt the guy is racist, I like some of Aleister Crowley's philosophy, but he was a rapist and satan worshipper, I like some Marquis De Sade's stories he's also a rapist and an upper class snob who abused his power and position in society, some musicians I like are/were drug addicts, some comedians I like are no doubt insecure narcissists.
In the UK we had Jimmy Savile. He was never taken to court or even arrested. Only evidence are victim's testimonials, but I believe them over him.
I don’t like supporting or appreciating people who have done such terrible things such as what you stated. So if MJ really was that way I couldn’t see him in the same light. I have not seen the Neverland documentary so I guess I can’t really speak on that. I didn’t watch it because to me it seems pretty messed up they decided to release after he died. So to me it’s like would you rather an innocent person be put in prison or a guilty person go free? Both are terrible but idk I feel like it’s worse for an innocent person to be put in prison.
Also I always found really strange and twisted that the parents would accept money to shut them up about being sexually abused. What kind of parent would do that? Most parents wouldn’t care how much money someone offers, no amount of money can fix it.
I also find it interesting how this one guy came out about child sexual abuse in the industry, and not many ppl talk about him. He himself was a child star and literally said he was around MJ and he was not one of the sexual abusers. He said there was a lot in Hollywood but they want to deflect from that problem and use MJ. Constantly trying to push that he is a pedophile since he’s an easy target. A grown man who openly loved children? That’s believable to many.
Idk maybe someday I will try to watch the documentary of I feel I can stomach it.
But until then Im not going to blame either one. The accusers may be right so I don’t consider them liars but I wont label MJ as a pedophile because I don’t see enough evidence to call him that. He passed away already so there’s no point. We may never know.click to expand

Threads like this make me nostalgic for video games. Wish I could still enjoy them as much as I did back in the day, but I just don't. The moment's gone, life goes on
I can enjoy them in very short bursts especially playing with other people, but it's not the same. I have played a little bit of N64 with a friend of mine recently and had some fun. Mario Kart and Perfect Dark. He's got a few old school systems. N64, SNES, Atari, and Gamecube

Wow that’s so interesting. I never thought about that.
Ive heard about ppl connecting with their relatives in dreams but didn’t know it was possible between two ppl with no relation.
What do you think might be my soul’s lesson according to this?
Also I just remembered in my dream I was wearing this I think blue flannel shirt, and then saw he was also wearing the same thing. I just wore mine slightly different.
It’s weird though because I don’t even wear flannel patterned shirts lol
Thank you Aju for the advice 🤍
Ive been doing some thinking and honestly Im not sure what exactly attracts me to him.
He’s actually the only celebrity I truly admire and look up to. Im not the type to usually stan celebrities or idolize them. But he’s the only one that I often find myself wishing to spend at least one day with him.
I was 16 when I first discovered Nirvana, which was only like 9 years ago. I overheard my classmate talking about the lead member committing suicide. I was shocked because I had heard of the band but just the name that’s it. That got me to look into it and I grew to really like Kurt and his music. But shortly after that I went through severe depression and for years avoided nearly everything I associated with that time I had it. So anything I liked, music I liked, etc. I have a hard time seperating things from events. I have magical thinking that those things cause my depression or any other hard times. Even when they have nothing to do with it.
So I complain avoided anything related to Kurt and Nirvana for years until just recently. I don’t know why I sort of grew bravery to let it go and not avoid Kurt and his music anymore. So lately I have been able to listen more to Nirvana albums again. I hopr I’ll be okay lmao
I still don’t know though why of all celebrities I like him so much. A lot of ppl idolize him though (expect for the drugs and suicide part of course haha) so I didn’t really think there could be a specific or special connection there.
Ah yes Michael Jackson was also a lovely and lonely soul like Kurt. It’s good to know Im not the only one that has this feeling towards a famous person, I thought I was crazy 😂
But I’ll continue to pray and ask for answers and see if I get anything in the next few days. Thanks ☺️click to expand
