The fact that he wants to know reasons behind the behavior says a lot. If he was truly critical, he wouldn't care what her underlying issues were. At least he's TRYING to understand her.

If I read right, and she's the one hooking up with a married man and supposedly happy with it, this behavior is an indicator that shes' NOT happy with her situation and life right now.

And being a friend doesn't give you a right to impose on anyone your morals and high ground in a way that irritates or offends someone else! There is a tactful way to approach anything and if the subject in question is not open for discussion then quite frankly a friend should know when to BUTT OUT!

I do this all the time.

Sometimes there is so much going on in my life and head that I need to take time out to deal with it all. Away from friends family and yes even lovers. Until things are balanced again and I am in control I will drop anything/anyone that consumes my time as it prolongs getting through the rift raft.

Yes he is OVER-LOADED, we don't cope well with it and he has assured you that there is no one else so relax and once he has sorted things he will be back to his normal self.
