We ran out of water three days past. Food, more than five days past. The details are foggy and my mind seems to drift in a state of torpor. But the beating. The constant pounding. We boarded up the windows with solid beams of wood, but nothing can withstand such never-ending abuse. The beating brings me back to reality. It is positively maddening and it is in this state I exist; periods of torpor broken by sheer rage only to lapse back into despondency. And the wailing and moaning. The sounds are almost lewd. The sounds of those damned creatures outside. They want in. And they want us.
Johannes has begun talking to himself. He sits, curled in the corner and raves about things only he knows. He raves, even while winding his watch. It's the only habit of his that I recognize from before. Before it seems that hell disgorged it's damned to hunt the rest of us. The rest of the crew are in much the same state, but a growing sense of paranoia and distrust grows among us. I fear that we will not survive much longer.
I remember being stuck on guard duty with this dude while in Iraq. We were up in a tower for four hours at a time, rotating, and this dude was either burping or farting treetrunking constantly. I've never been around someone that just flatly nauseated me like that. I wanted to chuck that dude out of the tower and taliban be damned.
It probably means that one needs to take a hard look at one's relationship and decide if it's really a good idea to continue it. There must a very serious lack somewhere if one is doing as the thread title states.
I don't really follow politics anymore. The last candidate I was excited for was Ron Paul, and it sounds like Bernie was treated just like he was when he ran.
That said, I don't we are going to get anywhere so long as we're still using a two-party system. The idea of picking a lesser evil just because one's pet issue happens to be addressed by one particular party is either a brilliant design, or a total failure. I imagine that depends on where one sits within the social hierarchy.
And career politicians. Man. I really feel that every single politician from the lowest staffer to the president needs to be run out of this country under threat of pitch forks and torches. It would be a good day if politicians were paid minimum wage. And if they weren't allowed to accept lobbying dollars. Then, we might seem some changes for the better. And hopefully changes that don't result in an already-sprawling government getting even bigger.
