Wow, cali has high cost of living still, right? Move to Texas. Seriously though, yeah, learn some stuff first. Get a job anywhere and learn to save your money. Save up about $1500 and you should be able to open a no fee checking account at a local credit union. Just walk in with your money and tell the rep. you want a "no fee" account. Get a "no annual fee" cash back credit card. Make small charges on it, and PAY your balance EVERY month! Discover or Capital One ... search the web. This will help you build your credit. Take some time to figure out what you are passionate about (politics? people? science? being independent? ...etc.) 1. Take your list of things that really peak your interest and make a list of jobs that are related to those passions. (passion = helping people, jobs might = doctor, missionary, public defender, etc.) or (passion = being independent, jobs = business owner, professor, etc.) 2. Then make a list of attributes of those different jobs (pay scale, hours, interacts with people, doesn't interact with people... etc.) 3. When you have all that stuff mapped out, pick the career that has a list of attributes that are most attractive to you. Then go from one job to the next as you move towards your career goal. Remember, being 'employed' at anything will make you more likely to get a better job that's on your career path; so don't be afraid to take something that doesn't fit. You can always quit. |
