| Ah - I shouldn't post while tearing up, but.. well - treetrunk it! I'm going to anyway. My littlest tree frog has seemed even thinner the past couple weeks, and today I observed (oh gosh this sickens me... my poor baby) bones were showing where they should not be visible. I've avoided force feeding him because amphibians are incredibly sensitive to stressors and that may be even too much. Herpetologists with veterinary licensing are almost impossible to find around here, and I have literally no money. I'm hoping he'll troupe through this weekend so I can literally drive until I freaking find somebody to help my little Chaplin (his name). I'm posting his photos because he's goddamn handsome, dammit! |

these are photos on occasions where I find them cuddling.  Chap is the smallest with white flecks. In different lighting his colors change from solid to tie-dye-like. When younger (in the previous post for example) he stayed more solid toned. With the specific type of tree frog that he is, color morphing and white spotting/blotching is normal. |

| Thank you dear! Last night was grim. Attempted two methods of force feeding as a sort of last attempt before a veterinarian. He's refusing food (ugh, I'm tearing up). Monday I'm calling a Veterinarian that is a couple hours away. Tonight I'm picking up Pedialyte for a vitamin bath for him. 1 part pedialyte to 10 parts conditioned water. It's a safe method of giving frogs vitamins since they are able to absorb vitamins and minerals through water. If he is going to pass, it will be long and painful. I may have to euthanize him if the herpetologist veterinarian gives that option. This really really really really sucks. |

| Thank you dear. We gave him a burial a la shoebox and placed flowers in with him. Placed two stones upon the site. My poor Scorpio.. this was technically the first pet he's ever 'owned', but I was surprised to see him get a bit torn over this. However it's relieving to walk with him through this grieving process instead of alone. I'm wondering how the dynamic of my frogs will be effected in the tank. |

Posted by sheathedclaws so sad, you think the other frogs with feel the departure. i know when we take our pup to the vet, out oldest dog gets whiny and depressed. dont know if its the same with amphibians. |

| They can tell - their 'perching' places have suddenly changed. My oldest frog began perching by the top left back corner after Chap's health began to decline. (I honestly believe)They said bye to him a couple nights before he passed away. My two healthy frogs hung out for awhile with him by his pool. It reminded me of a Froggy Pow-wow! They never do that, so in hindsight I believe they sensed his ill health and sort of made peace with it in their own odd amphibious way. The White's TF males croak chorally, so in some ways they have some social habits. My oldest often croaks in response to me. It's endearing. Aw, I love how dogs form such bonds like that. My cat hasn't left me alone since the frog passed. He's really attached to me and feeds off my emotion at the time. Animals are weird.  |
