Well. Being that I'm a nerd who enjoys studying technology, people, and communications. I've been reading through some articles/journals and thinking about how consistent advancement in technologies have been reshaping... everything. Though, in this case I was specifically thinking along the lines of social interaction and relationships, particularly how they've changed with time. Just doing some free writing. Not talking about anything ground breaking, simply taking note of what's goin' on around us. Comments, elaborations, criticisms, related youtube/web links, pictures of monkeys doing funny things, or whatever else you can think of are all encouraged.

We've got so many conduits through which we can connect w. each other, it's ridiculous. I won't even bother to waste the time listing them or counting them all. We'll just use our imagination. Just quickly consider the epic number of online communities / social networks and various electronic devices with communication capabilities. Crazy.

I'd say that there's a fair chance that if you're active on dxp, that it isn't the first, only, or last form of non-traditional communication(NTC). Traditional being face to face, snail mail/written, and telecommunication.

So. In terms of NTC - Regardless of your past experiences, current uses, or future plans - would I be correct in saying that the way you interact with and use NTC is quite a bit different than how you utilize traditional/face to face methods?

Some quick, more focused questions for you all. When asking these questions, I intend for them to be received in terms of an intimate relationship that goes further than friendship.

Does non-verbal, NTC lessen your ability to clearly and easily communicate?

Do you like the idea of having so many different ways to learn about someone and get to know them, rather than just direct interaction?

Due to NTC being less personal and direct. I mean you don't have a face and pair of eyes looking at you. Do you find it easier to open up & divulge personal information than you would being face to face?

Does the ability to connect via several alternate forms of communication seem to speed the process of getting to know and becoming comfortable with someone? With all these different methods to communicate, lies the ability to learn a lot more & a lot quicker.

Do you find relationships now move at the same or different speed with the overwhelming number of ways we can learn about one another?

I totally agree the people running this site post here to keep the juices flowing, otherwise hardly anyone would post and it'd probably more desolate than it's been getting recently (rsi ?).
But yeah Skype or gtfo seems to make sense to me really if there was any worry/suspicion.
Like it'd probably suck a bit if you were chatting to Mr.Creamy sensual Errol Brown style only to meet up with some like the ones that always stand at the back/right in boyband pics.
Or some crazy ike.
