Cancer woman and Aries man?

Okay so I know that typically this combination is supposed to be a run to the hills BUT my moon and rising signs are Leo while his rising and moon are actually Scorpio. Do the opposites kind of balance each other out? The relationship is still very new and he is already showing strong signs if possessiveness but I absolutely LOVE it! We have a very similar sense of humor and similar taste in the arts. Still though, of course I have my insecurities because his approach can be very direct and emotionless where as I am just always emotionally on. Its very hard to draw him out of himself sometimes but I like that.
