For the cusp born

Can someone explain to me what would make "cusps" so believable? I know what a cusp is but how would it make someone 2 signs? I am on what some call a cusp but I always thought the sun was either IN one sign or it's OUT. No in between. I am interested in knowing why some would believe this though. Anyone?

I can see your point. However based on my studies and analysis of real life, it is not a "sudden jolt" from one sign to the next. Each sign maintains it's "grip" for ~5 degrees after it actually leaves the sign. Then the new sign has full power.

What makes is so believable? I don't know. Maybe because "it works." Read a description of your cusp.

Basically it is believable to me because it seems natural for the energy to flow smoothly...you are affected by both signs. Otherwise, the universe would just say, well, it's July 23, time to switch over. Nah, it's not like that. It's like two kids shouting, trying to get their mom's attention. The two kids are the signs, your personality is the mom's attention. Both kids (signs) get part of your attention.

That's how I think it goes.

I have another question. Wouldn't this top statement defeat the purpose of Decans then? You know, the first decan ruling over Leo making the sun the strongest in the first degrees of that sign?

I have Cancer aspects in my chart. Saturn conjunct Mercury and my Sun. Even though my sun is in Leo the degrees are close and still conjunct. Saturn being the strongest influence in my chart. I figured if I was feeling Cancerian at any time this would be the reason why. A lot of people born on "cusps" have the neighboring signs in their immediate chart.

I dunno, this is a hard one for me to come to terms with lol It is interesting to hear why others would see it this way. I can see why some would think the "energy" carries over some, but that would just blow the whole "decan" thing out of the water. The sun being the freshest in the first degrees, etc.....

I tend to overthink things. lol

Thought it was interesting enough. I guess I don't think it throws a wrench into the combined-sign cusp influence. I think Decans are just another part of you. Yet another part, yet another influence. It's amazing to me how people have figured all of this stuff out.

But kind of like you, with everything I read, I think...now, is this how it works in the real world? I think of people and their charts, and the new information, and it typically does "work."

The one time I thought astrology was really breaking down was when I used an equal house system (every house gets 30 degrees). Yeah that was not accurate. I think the Placidus system is accurate.

I use placidus too. I'm not too familiar with others. But placidus is basic and it does work off a 30 degree system for each house. It just isn't necessarily for each sign. Say for instance someone has Sag rising. The house could also be shared with Scorpio even though Scorpio isn't the rising sign. The house is still 30 degrees. What method were you using before?

Yes, I do. And I still regret some of what I let fly. I am glad you understand this, that's awesome. I have to fight pessimism as well. I am extremely quiet in person. And serious. Everything is censored big time. Not a good thing for a Leo.

What it should say here is that if someone has Libra rising they could still share a house with scorp. Sag could share with Capricorn. It's the actual sign that does not use up the entire 30 degrees of the house. Sag rising could never share a house with scorp. oops. I hope at least some of this make sense lol

Hmm now I am confused...I thought every sign had to have 30 degrees, but not necessarily every house? I've used a few different chart making sites...mainly alabe.com. But they all seem to be about the same. For example, it makes my 6th and 12th house cover about 45 degrees. More than 1 sign then, of course.


Alabe.com uses the Placidus method ... and says:
"Many American astrologers prefer the Koch house system, and there are at least 30 other systems. "

I think my saturn is more powerful than jupiter because they are conjunct too. In House 5. I have pluto in H5 too...so basically I get to have a very intense relationship every few years! I've got a few that are just like, Son of a... But I got a few good ones too.

Don't know if I learned much from my relationships...I know alot more about why people act they way they do now though. My last was with an Aries.....Fire + Water = Steam. But it burned out pretty fast too....quite frankly I think pluto is recharged for another round. 🙂
