I just came across this and wondered if anyone had some further insight or information on this - or even thought this was interesting as well! Supposedly this is the oldest known astrological observations we have found, and this cave had been sealed for over 2,000 years.
Wow!! I remember taking a Sociology class in which we discussed the socialization process of different belief systems.. I remember we discussed how Paganism and Wiccan beliefs (at many times Astrology from older ages are tied within the two - and I know that is not always the case) were ultimately and often violently contested by the Church. Many commoners and 'non powerfuls'/'have nots' were of Pagan beliefs because that was the concept surrounding them - the land, sea, and sky.
My Aunt is a lifelong Astrologer who has been consulted with by many Doctors and Psychatrists for patients they seem to not understand at all. She looks at astrology as a tool and a 'natural' suggestion of sorts on happenings, mindsets, and bumps in the road. She's coming over to celebrate Easter (which may be awkward as I am the only Jew.. and since it's a family event I'm not going to miss it). I am definitely bringing this up to her and seeing if she has any interesting information to share on the history!
