My son is a Pisces with an Aries rising and moon in Cap. I have taken online tests and he seems to qualify for AD/HD, but I don't want to put him on drugs. As a mother, I am looking for 'other routes'. Any suggestions from those who know more about astrology?

For those who have gone through AD/HD, do you think it would have helped if your parents knew more about you and your sign, than to just put you on drugs? Do you feel your sign influenced you?

Just looking for help and advice...Thanks!

we like to run and jump and frolik(well, frolick's a lil gay, but he doesn't know)

LOL! Cute! I understand that part completely! I'm not the type of mom who makes my child sit in front of a television all day. I don't believe in the, either! And he LOVES to run..and run...and run!!!!!!

How do you get them to sit down when sit down time is called for? The boy won't even sit for a meal at the dinner table! My family is starting to worry about this, that is why I need opinions. They really want me to look into drugs. I refuse!!!!!!

I suggest taking your son to a psychiatrist if you want to see if he has it.

On a tangent, I was diagnosed with AD/HD when I was a youngin, but about two or more years ago I took an IQ test/ADHD evaluation, and the shrink said I didn't display ADHD traits, yet they say 60% of people who have it as a child retain it in adulthood. Maybe I'm lucky, maybe I'm not, since lots and lots of geniuses and rich folk have it. Oh well. I'd say I had a hard time with concentrating for long periods of time like with homework when I was still in school, especially in elementary school though, and I may still have that problem.

To Aquaaqi: One of my high school friends wants to be a professor and he has a good case of ADHD. He was also one of the smartest in the class.

I've been to my AD/HD friend's house before, and his room is actually rather neat. WAY neater than mine. As to people with ADD/HD, I was given an IQ test, and I scored really high verbally (I wouldn't be suprised if it was near genius) but below average on performance IQ. The shrink didn't give numbers though, she rated it as high, average, or low. Not having much to eat the day of the test and burning out in the middle of it didn't help any though. I would've scored a bit higher on the performance IQ part. She also evaluated for ADD, and said I didn't have it. I think she didn't want to give me meds though because I smoked pot. Even though I may not have ADD, I hear that Adderal really helps for stuff that you have to sit down and think for. Why else do you think so many college students take it?

I say stay away from the drugs!!!! Return to our most natural state. So what...we have created a world that is nothing like what our ancestors grew up in. Now we are trying to force kids to be taught what we find most important...force them to "obey" If we just live and let live everyone will end up just fine. But drugging them...forcing them to slow down just so they can absorb the insane amounts of ideas we feel we must instill in them...now that is insane. Maybe we are the ones that need to take the drugs and leave the poor youth that cant make that decision for themself alone. Let them grow a little and let them decided if taking drugs is what they need. Everybody thinks that their world can be saved with a miracle pill. Just try to live and let live. A pill cannot save you, happiness, acceptance...and love can help. Those pills take away our human essence...the part of us that makes us so happy, that gives us all that energy. Do we want some dull zombies roaming around obeying and becoming "yes men" A lot of close family members to me have been put on drugs and they turned into zombies. No personality, fearful of everything, no mind for themselves...do whatever you say kind of people. If that is what we want our children to be...I feel sorry for us all.

A few of my family and friends that ended up on drugs ... ended up with more problems later in life than what would have happened normally. Ritalin stunts your growth...Aderol made one of my friends crazy...he would stay up 3 days in a row whenever he took it..paxil causes your brain to "freeze over" because parts of it are no longer in use. Who in their right mind would want our kids brains to fire less synapses? Lets just go and make them dumb...null and void!! GEEZZ These drugs were things that in college...those of us that hadnt been determined crazy yet...would take to get high. They are extremely powerful drugs that change who we are at the time we take them. I still cannot believe that parents feed their growing children pills like this. These are not meant for kids...let your kids grow...please...for their own sake, let them grow.

Astrologically-Speaking - There have been some interesting programmes and articles suggesting that children who are diagnosed with ADHD are in fact indigo children who have incarnated on this earth to challenge authority and to get rid of structures/ of order. More info here: http://www.indigochild.com and http://www.namastecafe.com/evolution/indigo/<BR>
Personally-Speaking - My Gemini Brother was diagnosed as hyperactive... he is very intelligent and we moved from our flat into a house.. that solved it... but today, I think doctors are trigger-happy in handing out pills; and like funkhouse, I find that extremely worrying; the effects its having on their growth hormones, brain development and body-chemistry.

juwanapla,
I'm sorry that I'm not really very good at knowing astrology, but I am a nurse and can tell you that a cup of coffee in the morning before sending your child off to school will help him focus (at least for awhile). You can put milk in it and some sweetner, preferably not sugar for obvious reasons. I think Whole Foods sells a nice natural sweetner that tastes very good, a clear liquid, but can't recall it's brand name.

Hope this helps a little,
