What are your thoughts? Chris Rock's Hey-Ya Parody. Ha-Ha-Funny or Ha-Ha-Hell?

Excerpted Lyrics...
These crackers don't mess around, they hate me so, I know for sure.
Lynch niggas since 1660 up to 1950 and a few years more
These crackers they never like me, always want to fight me, stomp me on the floor
Drag niggas from the back of pick-ups and my ass gets sticked up by a two by four (—)

You rape my grandma
ooh, you rape my grandma
My grandma and my great grandma
You can't rape any more??_.

My father??s light skin
Ooh my father's light skin
He hates you cracker fascists
Cause his dick is so small??_.

satori, you didn't answer the question. 😛

i was debating on whether or not to send it to my white folks but i decided against it because i can't figure out if it's offensive or not. i mean, it's clearly a parody, but it's also true, it's funny at times...it's chris rock.

but is it universally funny? are white folks supposed to laugh at it? it's like the blackpeopleloveus.com site. loved it ever since college and i love how there are black folk who are OFFENDED and others who get it off that bat. so will white folks get it or be offended/uncomfortable as a result of it? just wondering.

satori, i dunno. it's sorta like "good hair." it was the opposite of what i thought he would address. he does have a socio-political point of view but i'm not exactly sure if it's just that i don't agree or i don't get it?

another take on the vid

4thwall - yeah, i remember that sketch and that's just my point. i know his comedic style so part of me is like, i know where he's going but where both whites and blacks could laugh at chappelle's comedy, i'm not sure if this video has the same universal appeal.

also, i wouldn't put it past her to stalk the shit out of a stranger. she's clearly unstable. it's not act. it's not "oh, having fun on the internet." she's "not right." "touched" as the old folks say.

Frenchy and i were talking about racism the other day. i think i will send him the vid to see what his perspective is as white male born outside the US.

@jade...i had to ponder that a bit. i'm not sure his intent was to offend. knowing some of his previous comedy, i'm wondering if it's merely a joke gone too far? like michael richards? race in comedy isn't new/not funny. i think it's a case of not taking his audience into consideration.

waaaaaaaay back when, andrew dice clay would do sexist comedy. men would laugh but women...not so much. he went to far at one point and it was downhill from there.

satori, i haven't watched it. i saw him on oprah and the chicks on my forum were hating on it so i didn't want to invest money into it. will catch it at some point i guess. from the interview, he said he made it for his daughters and all he focused primarily on weaves. i dunno, maybe he was trying to use humor to show how ridiculous the practice of chemical processes/weaves are? if so, i totally missed that from the previews.
