So I recently bought some movies, one "Closer" saw when it first came out, but left the theatre feeling like I missed something, and 500 days of summer (****SPOILER ALERT DO NOT READ IF YOU WANT TO WATCH THESE MOVIES LATER*****)

500 days of summer-1st of all, besides the badass soundtrack, the movie totally pissed me off. I know it warns that it's not a love story, and i get that its supposed to shatter all you unrealistic dreamy ideals of the one and how we put ppl on a pedastal they dont deserve and try to make it be more than what it is...but that is the dumbstruck optmism that accompanies naive love. And naive love is the most free you can get without the walls weapons and battle wounds we carry after that innocence has been lost...with that said, Summer is a BIATCH. She totally knew she was stringing that guy along, so why does SHE get to get married? I mean yeah Tom met Autumn, but who knows Autumn could be another self absorbed BIATCH stringing Tom along. I think what angered me most about the movie is...as screwed up as it is that is usually how things go. I call myself the boyfriend whisperer. Its the ones I really wanted to be with who screwed me over and I walked away always ended up in serious long term relationships after me...I'm not sure what that means yet. But I understood Tom...anyhoo, it didnt make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...

So then I watched Closer. And it didnt dawn on me until watching it the 2nd time what the real theme of the movie is. That ppl want the truth but the truth doesnt always bring you closer. Most of the time it can tear you apart. Another theme in the movie, spot on with Rules of Attraction (I

Many commentors on youtube said the same thing you did (about 500 days of Summer) they're against Summer because she tore his heart out. But she never gave him any promises of love, never. It was all in his fantasy and hope. You take it as it comes. Tragic in a way, because a man in his perspective wants to "attain" her love. You can't force love like that. She fell in love with someone else. And even after Summer, there's Autumn, and if that doesn't work out, there's always Winter....then Spring.
