Just curious if anyone has ever had, practices or is familiar with tarot readings? What are the accuracy of the information given in one? I had my very first one last week and to my surprise was quite shocked by the information given. I went in with an open mind, however, not knowing what to expect I kinda thought it would be a joke. I was going to "try the spirit" making sure anything said really hit home or agreed with me. Much to my surprise, it seemed as is if everything was almost confirmation to what I had already been thinking and feeling. Very good reading. What are your experiences?
Has anyone had a Tarot Card Reading?
Tarot readings have always intrigued me, I remember my first deck when I was in high school just before moving to university. I am still learning about it to this day, I have several decks, only because they are usually very beautiful to look at. Each artist has a different interpretation of the meaning of the cards and they convey that through their art. I would love to own a hand crafted one.
As for readings, there are moments where I am able to read the cards straightforwardly and there are times where I just don't understand the message at all. But tarot cards for me are like that, the message that comes through is sometimes irrelevant to the question asked, it's more about what you need to know. Saying that, I am pretty inexperienced at tarot and find it hard to read for myself, much easier for other people.
I've had readings done numerous times, from a lady that used to live nearby, she was excellent but has since moved away. The less information given, the better, because then you know they are not trying to play on your vulnerability or oversell the reading. I've been to a reader who was just making mountains out of molehills, only to feed on whatever worries or insecurities I was going through. Good thing my BS meter was out.

I do a lot of tarot and oracle card work for my friends and myself. Love them.

yes, i had a reading done in nov 2011 in New Orleans. I paid $ 10 and received alot of information regarding work, career, money. all of which came true.

^^ Same here. I got a reading done on a trip to New Orleans. She didn't charge any money but took donations. I gave her 20 bucks. She didn't ask me any questions. Not even my birthday. I think she was the real deal. She was very accurate with her reading. Said some stuff about my family which was so true, that I thought I was being set up.
same here, i didnt tell the lady nething. i just sat down and played with some cards.

Any time I ever give a reading to anyone I never ask questions. It's always open ended questions regarding the cards that the person should then ask themselves. I agree. If the tarot reader asks you personal questions before hand. Run the other way. RIP OFF. I just love the whole experience. If I were to charge i'd be a reasonable 10 $ or something so I was able to do it "professionally".

I began reading tarot back in 2000, my mom urged me to get them so she could get free readings lol!
For a long time I had trouble reading them, and I think it's because of the deck I was using (Robin Wood). It is a pretty deck, but to me is hard to understand. Last year I got the Rider Waite because of a dream I had about them, and have been very happy ever since.
I have had some very accurate readings with tarot whether I wanted to or not. I got The Tower one time as a relationship future, and there was a very sudden and unexpected breakup that took me by surprise. For potential relationship readings if I ever get Knight of Wands I know that most likey the relationship won't even get off the ground as the guy loses interest quickly.
Also, don't be afraid if the same card keeps popping up in regards to a question. The situation most likely hasn't changed and the cards are trying to tell you that.

"I have yet to come across a genuine Tarot reader."
Define genuine...meaning what?
People who attempt to read me, instead of the cards.click to expand
That kinda goes into what we were all saying about asking questions too. The aim of a tarot reader is not to read "you" per say...but to have you question YOURSELF. I always present questions like...
"So, the placement of this card means THIS...what does that mean to you? does it mean this perhaps______? or maybe ______this? If you are a good read of people in general it won't be hard to ask the right questions...and get them to come up with the right answers. As far as actually reading the cards...you have to have the capacity to "feel" for the right energy of the cards. There are different methods of doing this too.
Wow, thanks everyone. I have now had 2!! Went back to the same lady again. She never asks me questions. I shuffle the deck and then give her the parts and she lays the spread. She begins with what the spread says first and it has been DEAD on both times to exactly what I was already thinking or going through. One time I went in with questions not pertaining to what was on my heart and sure enough, the spread went right to what I was dealing with not the questions I brought with me to ask. Crazy!! I have purchased my own deck and a beginners book. I have done two readings on myself. One was great... at least I think I got some pretty clear answers. The other didn't seem to make sense in regard to the question I asked but.... it was a nice way to learn the meanings of the cards.
Yes, I've had readings before in the past - both paid (here) and free (forums, etc). I always enjoyed them and they were the inspiration for me to start reading cards myself. I now practice tarot regularly and do readings for others. I still struggle sometimes but practicing makes me better.
