Finding the Karmic Story

Any novel worth reading is full of made-up facts that come together to tell us some great truth. Our aim in prising the karmic story out of the nodal structure is very similar. We're not really expecting to unearth specific, verifiable past-life facts: for that, go to a good psychic or experience a hypnotic regression. What surfaces through nodal analysis is a parable that parallels the actual past-life realities. The core point is simply this: the story doesn't have to be —factual?? for it to be —true.?? Even without any particular intuition, the technical procedures we explore here can produce powerful, evocative, and psychologically-relevant results.

Maybe a person was actually a pioneer in the American west in a prior lifetime and was killed by beleaguered, desperate Navajo warriors. Maybe in our analysis of the south node, we come up with story describing her as an immigrant crossing the Atlantic on a ship taken by hungry pirates. Our facts are completely incorrect—but the story is still —true?? psychologically. Emotionally, it boils down to the same dynamics.

...
Linking the south node's sign and house, as we just saw, begins to narrow the field in which the karmic story will unfold, but it is still unsatisfyingly vague. There are 144 possible combinations of sign and house, but there are a lot more than 144 possible human stories.

this is so interesting!!!

anyone have a south node in leo—? it's funny he particularly highlights this position (which i have):

"There is one specific situation to highlight. With the south node in Leo, the Sun is the ruler—and thus the very essence of the person today (his or her sun sign) is deeply imprinted with the mark of the past. Everyone has karma, but it is particularly essential that we understand that karma thoroughly with this individual. Like the rest of us, for the sake of his basic vitality, he needs to be true to his sun sign. Yet, in so doing, he runs the danger of slipping into a lower, less-conscious version of that sign because of the downward pull of the ingrained karmic patterning. He is like a dried-out alcoholic who needs to sit soberly in a bar night after night."

SOUNDS LIKE GREAT NEWS....

but in a way that's very very very effing true. i've always had this weird fascination with time.. particularly the past.. but also because it's a multifaceted concept in present and future as well. i am like the brother in faulkner's "the sound and the fury" driven mad by time and eventually to suicide. it's something i ponder a lot on, oftentimes morbidly.

i also don't want to sound egotistical but i've always had this spiritual feeling that if a past life were truly to have existed, i would have been someone who had a central position as a leo midheaven would expect (though of course this might mean anything from being the leader of a knitting circle in some obscure midwest town to being part of the nobility). i sometimes even feel that self-importance in this lifetime... that maybe i was meant to do something more than what i am doing now and oftentimes my daydreams are stuff of grandeur and glory... like performing an intricate composition as a classically trained pianist in front of an applauding crowd. but... then again... i really just want to live a quiet, peaceful, and most importantly a raw life free from artificiality... such as someone who had a more central position might be prone to have. in this way, i can DEFINITELY see how the south node interacts with my north node in aquarius.

however i don't quite understand what he means when he mentions the "karmic patterning" concept for people with south node in leo. anyone care to explain?

The South Node in Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, —Lord of the Underworld?? and is the archetypal symbol of death and rebirth. Scorpio in this context has struggled to transform and be re-born like the phoenix, and somewhere in all that struggling has come an exhaustion and weariness of the spirit. Pluto is a planet ruling an intensely passionate sign, and the Scorpio storyline is often about the price it costs to come into one's own power. Having your South Node here suggests that you can heal and regenerate yourself—and others—more skillfully than any other sign, but you can also be secretive, reflective, mysterious and sometimes revengeful or jealous. So this —South Node Scorpio often reflect the journey of coming into one's own power the hard way.

South Node in Scorpio know the dark side of life; the areas that are taboo, and the horrific tragedies that befall humans. Tragedies leave scars in their wake, and though you??ve had great courage to look and survive these times, there's a heaviness of spirit that often remains, as well as a suspiciousness and fear. This life is now one where you are being called to rethink your values, your priorities, and to allow the old ways of loving and being loved to —die and be reborn.??
There's great gold in Scorpio??s shadowy inheritance---it has a hard won wisdom and occult knowledge that can serve you well when used right. But as always with Scorpio, there can be a tendency to see the —glass as half empty rather than half full?? because of an intuitive awareness of what wasn't —right?? earlier in this life or in a former life. You may have paid too much attention to other people's business rather than our own. You were—or are--the power behind the throne, or the one who —borrowed?? another??s values, glory, money or husband. Your own yearning may have brought on drama and melodrama.

South Node in Scorpio con't...

Now there's a call to love and be loved from a different perspective. No more tragic love stories, no more battles for power, struggles for revenge, hidden agendas and all the stuff of great novels. Just peace. Negotiation. Serenity. That's the movement that is called for with a Scorpio Moon or South Node. Your Soul needs a rest from trauma and melodrama—and you deserve it. There's no need to sabotage or save in the realm of love, but instead to find ways that life can be sweeter and easier with those you love, and that comfort itself and the simple joys in life are often what makes life worth living.

South Node in Scorpio holds the emotional memories from your childhood and from the forgotten —emotional memories?? of past lives. From the reincarnational perspective, both these points show the particular emotional —hangover?? that is most impacting you in this life now. We don't usually remember —facts?? from very early in life, nor do we usually remember our past lives. What we feel instead is an emotional undertone—a lunar feeling—that something in our Soul hurts—and that something in our past is unresolved. It's like waking from an uncomfortable dream but not remembering the storyline—and this is the unresolved issue that the South Node in our birth chart describes. By describing some of this lunar story, we bring it into consciousness, and then we can move into changing our present life story, by recognizing the old patterns and emotions that no longer serve us now. We can learn to love and be loved differently.

South Node in 1st House:

The individual has learnt to accept the assistance of others and not to plough a lonely, solitary furrow.

My south node squares Mercury and Jupiter. And a semi-sextile with Uranus.

In this link they say:

"The descending or south node is associated with the past, whether in the karmic sense of things brought over from past lives into the present one, or in the sense of the influence of the past in the present life, such as one's inherited traits and childhood. The south node may also show an area of life where the person is proficient, but yet where little further growth will occur: the person's "comfort zone." It is not necessary to believe in karma and reincarnation to work with the moon's nodes."

My South Node is in Pisces, North Node in Virgo.

http://bookzz.org/book/948497/06adc1

PAST LIVES
These people have an innate awareness of the spiritual dimension of life and are attuned to the higher, lovelier realms of their own natures.
They are extremely sensitive, easily wounded, and very careful to avoid causing pain to others.
In fact, they are sometimes more aware of—and concerned about—other people’s suffering than the people are themselves.
Ha, we're reversed; my NN in Pisces, SN Virgo.

In past lifetimes, you were uber picky, even judgmental, and you bring this perspective with you into this incarnation. But it will pass away as you grow older. The longer you live, the more you will realize how rigid you have been. There is a world beyond what you can sense, and following the information you receive from your higher guidance will allow you to transcend the limits that have kept you in a prison of your own making.

Possessing the north node in pisces, your need for structure is so great that you may make yourself sick with tension. You are prone to bouts of nervousness and irritability. There is only one cure: plunge into the cosmic ocean. Stop thinking and start feeling. Here is where your healing begins. You are probably asking yourself as you read this, “How does that work?” You must avoid exactly that type of analysis if you are to find happiness in this world.

You were born with an innate sense of danger. You are distrustful of the world and question the qualifications of experts and others who attempt to make sense of our physical surroundings. You may even fear that everything foreign brings disease. The only antidote is faith for the north node in pisces.
