Sun opposed Mercury

So I just worked out that my Sun (cancer) is almost exactly opposed my boyfriend's mercury (capricorn). There's not quite even two degrees of difference in it.

So I looked up what this means in synastry and apparently it means we can see both sides of a discussion but sometimes the mercury person (him) may think the sun person (me) is too emotional, whereas the sun person thinks the mercury person can see things too logically.

Now this makes perfect sense. But we have the exact same aspect going back the other way too.
My Mercury in cancer is almost exactly opposite (barely two degrees difference again) his cappy sun.

So my question is, would this sort of even out?
Surely we can't both think the other person is too logical whilst also thinking they're too emotional.
