I dont see why this is so cryptic to you. Clearly he asked you to watch it for 2 reasons .
1 He enjoys tech humor and identifies with the themes placed in the video and wanted to share something he likes with you to give you an idea what he finds funny.
2 To see if you find it funny, because he wants to see if your since of humor is compatible with his, that might be one thing that he may check to see if you're what he's interested in.
Oh yea one more thing these explanations have no context because I have no Idea what kind of relationship you two share. So a little bit of back information would better help us help you with gauging the motive behind his actions. I hate making conjectures without first having some additional information, but maybe this touches base with his intentions.
