You know, it's terribly depressing, but in exactly three weeks from tomorrow, I'm going to no longer have the safe haven of highschool walls to fall back to every day. What do you all think about adulthood? I'm going to have to start acting responsible soon, so I'd like to hear about everyone's trials and tribulations and stories of adulthood-- as though I haven't been already just being on this list. But the thought of being out of highschool and away from home scares me stiff! (Don't tell anyone though...)
Adulthood
Congratulations Josh! I am proud of you for finishing HS. What a wonderful accomplishment. I'm not understanding why you view this as "depressing." maybe because it is unknown to you? Be proud of yourself and look forward to your next adventure. You may not have the safe haven of highschool but you have the safe haven of yourself and that will travel with you anywhere! 🙂
What do I think about adulthood.....I LOVE it. I have found that life is what we each create it to be and how we perceive it. I am having a blast and would NOT change anything that I have experienced because it all has made me who I am. I have been through a lot and yes, life will challenge you, it needs to, this is how you must develop and grow. The answer is that when these "opportunities" are presented to you will be how YOU choose to look at them, your ATTITUDE.
I am not sure if you have ever read this but I have this on my refridgerator for all of us to read.
ATTITUDE
"The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than fact. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. the remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude...I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you....we are in charge of our attitudes." ~Charles Swindoll
My BEST wishes to you, Josh for a wonderful life full of many daring adventures and love.

Personally, I will not miss highschool one bit. I am sick of the OBEY OR DIE principle which is core to it's design. I'm going to be so much happier at college. I'm also so glad to get out of my house, although I will miss a lot of people. I'm looking foreward to adulthood very much, and I wish my birthday would come sooner.
i'm still in the lousy system. that sucks for i belive now this sounds carzy but i bilve my pricpals aren't following the law on a few things. and i've noticed male teachers openly hit on girls and what's worse one is a big flirt who has a wife who works partime at my school.
Well, I'd say all that's better than the cop who does girls at my school with a wife and son back home. He stole my X-C team jacket twice, too. Talk about corrupt...
And Morgan, being an adult isn't all it's cracked up to be. The differences are mainly just that now I'm complaining about 40 hr weeks instead of 20-30 hr weeks at work and I have substantial, but no less depressing, financial reasons to work.

God, I know what you mean about the corruption, luckily it never happened to me or any one that I knew, or you can bet there would be a law suit going on right now.
Josh, I was never a happily go lucky child, so I really don't feel that the increased responcebilities will affect me too much, I'm already as mentally messed up as I can get right now.

Hey Freebird...I loved that piece you shared. I also agree with your take on life and attitude...nice one, thank you for sharing.
It's the ol' glass half empty or fill story again, isn't it, but that piece explained it much better.
Thank you, Durrie.

Freebird...
This piece has inspired me in my writings on the misc board. I have posted a lot of things under the artificial insemination string there and at the end I have asked the people to reply and give their feelings on attitude and life.
I would greatly appreciate your input...although respect your choice as always I would anyone elses.
Take care...
Durrie.
