Getting your way isn't love.

I am more challenging the literal meaning of the word.

There is no such thing as true love IMO. We are all humans and we all lie. The only true love we have is from God.

People who are 2gether most of their lives had to WORK for it. And I am sure there was some lies and deceit involved in maintaining that longevity.

I dont know everyone in the world but most couples married for 40+ years that I have known, it always involve infidelity and some cheating...emotionally, over the net, whatever.

People watch TV or grow up reading Cinderella stories or old wives tales about love and how its "Happily Ever After" Absolute BOLLOCKS mate! We make that up bc its a fantasy, its what we DREAM about but in reality that doesn't exist. We all want to find our "true love" or "soul mates" but we were born by ourselves...and die by ourselves....LOVE yourself...thats the only true love other than GOD.

Historically we as humans aren't monogamous creatures. Its reality, Its apart of life. There is only REAL love. IMO :-)

I totally agree with justsophs there is no such thing as true love. We have all been brain washed throughout our live, Thats why we created, santa claus, easter bonnie, tooth fairy. People have a tendency to create tails to make life easier. Therefore they dont have to face up to things that are true and things that makes life a bit harder. Historically we have created many tales to escape whats real.

How do you know if you are in love? Sometimes it seems like ppl mistaken "in love" with convenience. How do u know that it is true love?

I asked this same question to my aunt/2nd mom the other day who has been happily married over 40 years. She told me that you will know when there is not a bunch of drama and/or confusion. Everything will just flow. I asked more indepth questions like how they ended up getting married. They were together for 4 years and she left him because she felt the relationship was not going anywhere. She was living away from home in another state when she met him and she moved back. Another one of my aunty's was very sick and dying. When he heard he came to see her in the hospital. My aunt told me that my other aunty died (this was before I was born) and 3 weeks later her and my uncle were married. She makes jokes about how he finally caught her. Even to this day I can tell how much he is enamored with her, when I call their house and talk to them on the phone.

I think that when you have a question like that you need to go to the experts (old married people). Asking people who are basically in the same boat as you is simply futile. It is like asking a hairdresser how to fix a toilet.

I agree!! And if I may add my opinion....Not just old couples, but couples who have a relationship you admire....that makes you smile. If it's easy I do agree that it's meant to be....some people mistaken that for boring later down the road and look for that initial excitement.....I think everybody wants to keep that spark.
