Okay this is my most favorite holiday EVERRR! All the dressing up, the creative and weird things you can wear!
I never buy a costume though. Always put together something from my closet so, you can tell my options are limited. I was thinking of being a wicked gypsy like witch this year. My friend gave me the idea of shopping at the thrift store for some easy and cheap items.
My family never incuraged Halloween growing up and won't spend a dime on a costum. So, I kind of developed the whole no spending money on things I don't NEED. But I want it so I always put in effort.

I think I'm going to put together a long, layered skirt with... I have no idea for the top yet lol but I know it's going to be a long skirt. I do have colorful, bright skirts, but I also have some black sexy skirts too. I also have plenty of jewels to chose from, random, don't care if they don't match lol

So, what are you doing for Halloween? Have any kids that wants certain costumes? What creative things will you try? I love hearing ideas! To give me details too 🙂

I usually decorate the house with wild abandon. I paint my pumpkins with images rather than hollow them out for jack-o-lanterns. That way I can collect the seeds to roast and then I bake the pumpkin for its flesh to simmer down for pies or to serve as a side dish like any other squash. The inside of the house, the large picture windows, get spooky images painted on with acrylic paint that I take off with a razor blade when the season is over. The children have had many costumes, I always did them on the fly. Take a cheap sweat suit ( very chilly here in October ) and paint with glow in the dark fabric paint ( son was a skeleton one year ), one year he was a race track. Simple. Dashed lines in reflective tape and little cheap cars glued on. He hated being dressed up so I went very simple with him. The girls liked more intricate things. A cute idea one year was clear balloons blown up and affixed with wee safety pins over a blue outfit. Ta-da, she was soap bubbles. Last year I was a 30s era woman. I found the dress at an elderly womans yard sale, it was perfect. Pin-curled my hair, did the proper makeup and had a blast. *sigh* I love autumn.

Ooo I love halloween! Although it is the only time I feel a bit freaked out living right next to a graveyard. And not just any graveyard, it's ancient. There are witches buried there apparently.

This halloween I'll be at a fancy dress party for my friend's 40th.

I'm thinking about going as a spatula, although I'm not too sure how to make a spatula costume. 😛

Everyone always makes a big effort at halloween here. Last year I went out in Glasgow and it was mad just about everyone was dressed up. And not just regular outfits too some really out there ones, lots of thought put into them. I love that.

Though I can also see myself chickening out at the last minute and running back home too :/... 😄 lmaoo ohhh *sign*... I only talk big.

I think you can do much better than that MissP. 🙂

That's part of the fun of Halloween I think Diana. I had a blast one year painting the Haunted House front for the local Fire Dept. I did cracked tombstones on ply for outdoors and painted the entrance doors with a 6' skeleton waving cheerily with twisted tree and moon behind. The other was cut out to resemble a coffin so I put huge angry blood shot eyes behind a pane of glass inset. It was in the newspaper and I have it to save. 🙂

I want to be my sign for halloween lol how would a Sagittarius look without the horse part? I want to make it attractive. I was thinking of mixing the gypsy look I wanted but I'd have to go for a brown skirt and look nature like no? And boots. And of course a bow and arrow. Where will I get those, I have no idea!
For the skirt I was thinking of finding a leathery kind of matirial and rip it up around the bottoms, some parts a few inches above my knees and layers like that. And layers of other fabric tied around my weist and belts. But what should I do for the top? I have gray boots that go up to my knees, and I want something woods-y like, a huntress kind for the top. I think this look is going to be like the Goddess Artemis, which is by the way my favorite goddess! The whole arrow and bow part and nature and so on.

SO now I have a mix of gypsy, Saggie, Artemis and I feel like if I add a bandana on my head I'll look a bit like a pirate too. I do like the thick layer of smeered eyeliner framing my eyes lol and the dirty look, like I had nothing but a dry rag to clean the mud off my face, and features and beeds and breads in my messy hair.

lol I think I'm just going to throw in everything I like and not call it anything. Pirate, gypsy, call me whatever ^_^
