i keep hearing everyone say "oh i miss my school/college days, i wish those days were back", but oddly for me i do not miss them at all. i love my work life. i have never been an outgoing, social person. and back then while still studying, though i had and still have close friends from then, i was self-conscious and not too much into mingling with everyone. i enjoyed the gatherings/annual functions, class trips etc., but i enjoyed them in the company of my friends, not the entire classroom.

but since i started working, i started enjoying life more. i am not a part of a close friends' circle, i am with my colleagues, i feel less conscious and equal with everyone around, though i am more friends with some than with others. i like the freedom that working gives me. i can spend on anything i want, i can do what i want. i get to travel, explore new places, meet new people. now i feel i don't have to blend in with anyone. i am my own. i like it.

so, which one do you prefer? school life or work life?

I was kidding (but not completely.)

It's actually true for a lot of us. We purchase new clothing for old insecurities.

I

Okay, in that case, I am sorry for calling you an asshole.

That's alright, I didn't really mind it, to be honest. There are worse things to *be*, never mind being called.

The thing is, I agree withh most of your advices, I just don't like the delivery.
You just come accross abrupt, to me.

But I sure apreciate your intelligence and proper spelling. I think you are a grad.student too, though you may have graduated already, but I can just tell.

lol! abrupt and brief maybe. to be honest, i didn't get was seraph meant when he talked abt the gym and close relationships. i guess in simple words he meant, before you are uncomfortable in a crowd, and now in a close relationship? correct me if i am wrong seraph 🙂

You're still the same person, but in a more comfortable situation, where (now) the old discomfort will manifest elsewhere in your life, but in a line which can be drawn back to the original awkward feelings when in large groups. You haven't accepted all the good benefits of your old school days. You haven't accepted that that awkwardness was necessary for you to grow and in time (hopefully) overcompensate or it to the degree that you're just as comfortable and at ease in crowds of whatever kind or stripe as you are with your hand-picked friends. Real growth is tested when (among other times) things are convenient and you have to roll with it, not when you're in complete control and can just walk away.

true, you still are the same person, and i still am not comfortable in large group settings, but it does not bother me now. i can opt out of having to be in those situations. but in general, if someone asked would you like to go back to your old school days, i would say no. does not mean i would not want to go back to school, that is different
