What are your favorite songs that sort of define your teenage years? Sometimes I hear something on the radio and I think, "oh my gosh, I remember exactly what was going on in my life and how old I was when that was popular". But I definitely have favorites. Many. 🙂
music from the teenage years
Background: I think I was either going into seventh or going into eighth grade, something like that. And I remember when I heard it, I thought to myself, "I've never heard music like this before". I was very impressed because it was different from most other music. And my friend Nick let me listen to the cd on his headphones on the school bus in the mornings. 😛 And then he let me borrow the cd, and I loved it, but I don't remember any of the other songs.
Weezer
Undone (The Sweater Song)
[Matt:] Hey bra, how we doin' man?
[Karl:] All right.
[Matt:] It's been a while man, life's so rad!
This band's my favorite man, don't ya love 'em?
[Karl:] Yeah.
[Matt:] Aw man, you want a beer?
[Karl:] All right.
[Matt:] Aw man, this is the best. I'm so glad we're all back together and stuff.
This is great, man.
[Karl:] Yeah.
[Matt:] Hey, did you know about the party after the show?
[Karl:] Yeah.
[Matt:] Aw man, it's gonna be the best, I'm so stoked! Take it easy bra'.
I'm me
Me be
Goddamn
I am
I can
Sing and
Hear me
Know me
If you want to destroy my sweater
Hold this thread as I walk away
[Mykel:] Hey, what's up?
[Karl:] Not much.
[Mykel:] Did you hear about the party?
[Karl:] Yeah.
[Mykel:] Um, I think I'm gonna go but, um, my friends don't really wanna go. Could I get a ride?
Oh no
It go
It gone
Bye-bye
Who I
I think
I sink
And I die
If you want to destroy my sweater
Hold this thread as I walk away
Watch me unravel, I'll soon be naked
Lying on the floor (lying on the floor)
I've come undone
If you want to destroy my sweater
Hold this thread as I walk away (as I walk away)
Watch me unravel, I'll soon be naked
Lying on the floor (lying on the floor)
I've come undone
I don't want to destroy your tank-top
Let's be friends and just walk away
It's good to see you lying there in your Superman skivvies
Lying on the floor (lying on the floor)
I've come undone

Background: I think I had just broken up with my very first boyfriend when this came out. I remember thinking it was a sad song at the time, but I don't think so anymore. I think it's just bittersweet or something.
Better Than Ezra
It Was Good
Better Than Ezra
Good
Looking around the house
Hidden behind the window and the door
Searching for signs of life
But there's nobody home
Well, maybe I'm just too sure
Maybe I'm just too frightened
By the sound of it
Pieces of note fall down,
But the letter said,
Aha, it was good living with you
Aha, it was good
Aha, it was good living with you
Aha, it was good
Sitting around the house,
Watching the sun trace shadows on the floor
Searching for signs of life,
But there's nobody home
Well, maybe I'll call
Or write you a letter
Now, maybe we'll see on the Fourth of July
But I'm not too sure,
and I'm not too proud
Well, I'm not too sure
and I'm not too proud to say
Aha, it was good living with you
Aha, it was good
Aha, it was good living with you
Aha, it was good
Yeah, you were so good
Yeah you were so good,
Yeah that's right...

sorry not from my teen years I like stuff from all decades 30s 40s and all the way up to rap I can not get into rap.
I understand. I'm highly selective about the rap I like. For some strange reason I really like Ludacris, but that's about it as far as rap goes. Most of it I can't relate to and therefore find it annoying. It's too much about the "bling bling" and crap like that.

bloody hell what an idea that would be a great match for her. that sutition would be ideal.
wow you guys, thanks for the suggestions. I've thought about radio, I had a teacher once and over the years a few friends who told me I had a pleasant speaking voice that would be good for radio. But I don't know if I'm quite cool enough to work at a record store. lol. I don't have any piercings (except for 2 in each ear!) or pink hair or anything, and I really only know about music that I like. Radio is a possibility though. Although I don't know how good I am at being improvisationally funny. You gotta have a "shtick" of some kind I think. But I would enjoy it. I wonder how much money radio people make. lol.
p.s. parallax, never fear that you are intruding, I find you very interesting and I'm glad you intruded. lol.
