i just got a CD from an uncle/cousin person and he said it was good odd and tribal in a different language so I just put it on the other day and OMG it is sooo good!

I think the language is Italian and the music is sort of a mix between Enya, classical music (like a shadowy monastary scene), and alternitive. It's called "Dead Can Dance" and it is awesome with slow moing songs and fast moving songs I dont know why I love it I just do.

wow, actually that sounds really cool, "a mix between Enya, classical and alternative"...NEATO! The one type of "world music" I've tried and disliked was this cd i got at one of those earthy, hippie type stores and it was reggae. I don't know why, but I just can't get into reggae really. I like some bob marley, i like that song, "I shot the sherrif", but other than that, I just can't get into it.

Try out "Adiemus".

It has a female lead vocal who sounds closely related to Enya, and a background chorus of African Swaheelee (msp) children. It sounds very new age to me, and all in an African tongue, so you hear the "tone and inflection" of the words, without understanding the meaning.

And it doesn't matter. Very soft, beautiful. Uplifting.
"Adiemus", "Kayama", and "Zarabanda" are three good examples of what's on the CD.
