scorpio male cancer female help needed

ok....so need some help/advice!
Met a scorpio male online....met up and had great meet. continued to see each other once a week, which also included a tx from him every morning which initiated conversation. We've had 4 meets....usually jus to his house or mine for coffee and sit and chat, kiss etc....been no sex, altho things got steamy on 3rd date. Anyways...he isn't great on texting etc which is ok, because he always followed through and when we were together it was great. Now here's where it gets confusing....after 4th date, we still got on ok...but the txs started dwindling. I have read everything on the web about this and its a trait scorpios have, so i just waited an was patient. Then this week he calls me out of the blue for a chat and again all was ok....asked when i was free and said we will arrange something. (we r both quite busy at work etc so we have to find out when suits etc) that night he was texting and was clearly into me, i said when i was free and he said it wud prob b friday when he was....so friday comes, i get my morning text near lunchtime and that was it!!! I just left it and decided not to react and see what he says on saturday. Still nothing so i text him saturday morning and asked did he want to come to my house later on that eve....I waited ALL DAY b4 he text back and said he was tired but definitely come over tomorrow. Soooo sunday arrives and nothing!!!!! i nicely text him saying i guess ur busy lol i v got the hint, ill leave u alone.....i get a reply short while later saying sorry his nephew was back in the hospital......i was like WTF?!?!?! if he isn't interested it was perfect way to just ignore me after i text him i'd leave him alone, but no...he goes and apologises with an explanation!!!!! i just replied sorry to hear that, hope he is ok.....what is going on—? is he interested or not— is this normal for scorpio men—? im not the type to be needy or clingy, but with this guy i have no clue wat to think or where i stand....is it a test—? if so what way do i react— ive been very calm and cool so far, but im starting to go out of my mind lol he has me smitten

yes...its been all during the week....makes me think maybe he's not so single, but then again ive been to his house etc...no sign of any female presence lol
he has never mentioned his nephew being sick before, he usual thing is he's working or training....we live a good bit apart so can understand when he said he was tired the other nght.

im not the type to sit around for a guy, but the connection we had was strong and going well....im quite busy person so it kinda suits me that we aren't stuck in each others pockets....what has me confused is if he's actually interested...or playing some game. my gut says he is!! its how to react. im at the point im about to say 'to hell with this lol' i just fell like asking him straight out...but i dont want to come across needy or clingy....cos im definitly not ....im quite happy to go slow if i know he isn't messing me about.

i guess i shuld just wait it out....iv been dragged along in the past too many times it's made me wayyyy to analytical lol
