"Most of civilization is artificial; everything we have and do is a mere construct to mask survival strategies. Libraries preserves our knowledge so that our later generations improve on our success (and hopefully learn from our mistakes) so that our particular culture subset survives.

Armies exist to protect our genetic material. TV, videogames, movies, music.. all really exist to keep us pacified so that we remain content and within our culture and ?civilization.? Exercise keeps us healthy and attractive to the opposite sex so our genetic material continues."

I think it is pointlessly pointing out the obvious.

The only thing that bothered me was the insinuation behind "TV, videogames, movies, music.. all really exist to keep us pacified so that we remain content and within our culture and ?civilization.?".

It sounds like the author is referring to some grand evil scheme to keep us inside, druling and unaware of what is going on outside. I think we naturally find ways to keep ourselves inside, druling and unaware of what is going on outside. There is a bit of a major difference there.

Uh....ever hear of supply and demand? If we didn't want to watch tv, listen to music, etc...there would be no such thing. Here's the thing, everything that exists was first somone's thought. When you understand that, you understand everything. What are your thoughts creating?

My take on it... You are obivously not watching enough movies, and television. Maybe if you would exercise, you would feel healthy and attractive to not worry about such non-sense...

My take on your response...

"Dancing Bread, If your brain was chocolate it wouldn't fill an M&M."

There's absolutely nothing wrong with questioning life every now and then and it also does not mean that you can't enjoy yourself while doing so. Seeing your logic, I bet you think I wrote that and put quotes on it to make it seem as if someone else wrote it.
