Before the other night. Now I'm hoping 22+ hours meant I did well, meaning I pass my midterm, meaning I am no longer failing the class, meaning I can actually pass it and finish my minor. I'm just drained right now and have another midterm in an hour.

With that said, virgos are supposed to be all book smart and what not, but do you guys study like your life depended upon it or just wing it? In grade school, I was very much not a studier and could absorb information enough to understand what I'm learning. That changed in college of course. I also noticed that certain sites say virgos are very factual and rely on facts more than ideas; while that's true for me, I actually understand concepts a lot better than facts, which is why I'm a psychology major. Is this true for you as well?

How well do you take notes? The reason i say this is because if you can manage a stronger and quicker way to write notes then you will be able to study less and remember more. You are never suppose to take down the denotative definition of the terms any professor gives you because they tell you examples within their lectures, and a professor that assigns you a book to read is to simply help you understand if you don\'t get the notes, but what you should really be learning is from the professor. The professor is the one who assigned you the book that closely matches their ideals, but those ideals in the books are not exactly what the professor may have on any test you take, so you are more likely to struggle if you always follow the book.

Generally, I use to take 5 to 10 minutes reviewing vocabulary words with examples that were given during class, and i would assign the key terms of each definition to something that relates to my life. Remember, your point is to understand the meaning of the word, not know what it is line-by-line, that takes forever!

I hope this helps you...

I usually wing it and I can be a real '11th hour' kind of person. I have a bad habit of pulling 'all nighters' and writing 10pg and beyond papers the day that they are due. While it is quite crazy and quite risky, it seems to be the style that works best for me. However, I would agree with sorti in reference to the professor's notes V. the text. If it's a 'lecturing' professor, chances are, the exams will be tailored around the notes that come directly from him. The book is there as basically just a back-up. At least this has been my experience and I find that I do learn best by this method.

Oh, I'm actually a good note taker. I pay more attention in class, and right around the exam, I consult the book and compare it with my notes. What really helps e out, and we spoke about this in class, is that after taking notes, I go through the book and actually rewrite or retype the information even if I already have. It helps me to process and retain information; I also rephrase things either into new statements or questions so I can understand it better than just having it in front of my face.

For the midterm I took, which was in plant biology, the class itself is extremely difficult and I usually don't take that much time to study for an exam.

I really appreciate the tips though. I usually try to find ways to make studying less tedious for me because I can have a short attention span. The only way I can really focus when I study is if I listen to music but turn off other things like the TV.
