As directly as possible. As soon as possible.

There was this guy I knew last year, through friends. I never really talked to him but he had my # as i gave everyone that I saw often when we all hung out as a group for plan coordination purposes. I always added people on my FB, that's kind of how it worked with my circle of friends and their friends. Anyway, every like 3 months he'd text me and mention something he saw on my FB (btw I never interacted with him via phone or on FB) but he would text me about things he saw on my FB and i'd respond to be nice but not really participate in the conversation.

But every single time he would text me he would "hint" at something. After the 2nd time I knew what he was doing but I ignored it.

The third time he texted min in 6 months he flat out was open, and I flat out told him that I wasn't interested and never was interested. Then he asked if it would be awkward if we saw each other when our friends would hang out and I flat out said "Why would it?"

He got the hint and said he'd not bother me anymore.

I think I was kinda too direct but be direct in a nicer way LOL.

I like the directness. However, I'm afraid I might hurt his feelings, but I'm all about honesty so I will do this asap.

It's tough with colleagues. They can make your work life worse.

Bust basically be direct.

I had a colleague who had a male best friend that liked her.

She kept telling him "I'm not ready for a relationship."

I was like WTF that does not mean you aren't interested in him. Tell him you are not interested in him.

She totally didn't get it until I explained why what she said originally didn't work.
