I'd take the job that was more stable but offered less hours/money b/c who's to say that eventually those hours/money wouldn't increase? In this economy, it's best to get in where you fit in & right now, it's a good feeling just knowing that you won't be laid off or turned lose. I'd do everything I could to work my way up to the top or do whatever I could so that I would end up gaining more hours/money & knowing I'd have job security & stability while doing it would be my main motivator.

Sure, I could get paid more money with a temporary job but there the 1. how do I know I'll find a job that's more stable by the time my time runs out? Some money is better than no money? And 2. Who's to say that my next job will have stability or pay the same?

Plus stability always looks better on the resume & when the resume is polished, naturally more job opportunity doors are openend. I'd hate to get all of that good money with a temp. job & know that it'll be cut short; it'd be like window shopping. The money would run out & there'd be no guarantee that my next job (IF there's even any job openings in that fragile time span) would pay the same or more.

The good thing is while I'd be working part time, I'd have time to manage my time right & look for a more stable AND more financially rewarding job. And hey, if a better job came a long, I'd have to end up weighing my options. But atleast I'd HAVE options. When you know your temp. assignment for a job is about to end, you just have to HOPE that something else will come through & you're putting the fate of your bills being paid in the hands of the world. And hey, my bills HAVE to be paid; not HOPED to be paid for

Right, I mean everyone's situation & circumstances are different. And it all really depends on what you consider temporary. Did your employer tell you that the job would be coming to an end in 2 months? Or are you working the job & feel that it will be temporary b/c it's not something you can see yourself doing long term?

If your employer told you that your job would be ending in 2 months (for example), then the chances that it won't actually end in 2 months is slim to none; therefore leaving you choice but to not only start looking for new employment but to ALSO find new employment.

BUT if you know already that this job is temporary b/c it may not be something you can handle (mean bosses, too far to travel, not good enough benefits, not the place that's going to help you get closer to your career choice & therefore not good enough to stay put), then which job you choose (more hours/temporary or less hours/security) would really depend on that specific answer to that question + individual circumstances.

HEY U!!!
Still jiggling eh 😛

well, like I said depends on needs... with the unstable economy, a part time job that constantly gets you some money is a good idea... but again how stable will it be in the long run? Part-times don't have as much security as fulltimers, right?

With the full time job, you save loads in a short period but then if it's pulled, how easy will it be to get a new one with the unstable economy?

Assume you're in school too so something that works around your schedule will be ideal, no? Then if they have anything related to your career, then you have to think which one advances your career path more, right? If nothing to do with your career and just for cash... then that doesn't matter...

This is a tough one!
