For looks, i think it depends more on the planets themselves. For instance, Venus rising, whether it be in Libra or Taurus. Neptune or Venus in the first, or Pisces rising. These are the model planets of the zodiac and their respective signs.
Positive aspects to the ascendant are good too, in the sense that they give an ease, charm and confidence to the personality, which is beautiful in itself.

I believe so, it makes sense...
NO. i've seen some people with sun/venus conjunct/trine their asc, and they are far from being attractive unfortunately. then again, 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder.' i would say that having venus/neptune in mutual reception to each other/asc/in the 1st and/or 10th house would ENHANCE your looks, but by no means could it make you a 'definite beauty'. uranus adds a 'glamorous' appeal, and mars and pluto for sex appeal. but the entire chart is a necessary consideration. genes of course play a crucial factor. but as i said before elsewhere, if you're lacking in the genetic department, then some 'classic beauty aspects' can enhance your physical appearance and allure. just my $ 0.02 and observations.
