A most interesting relation between the conscious and the subconscious forces. This configuration is what I call "The Chess Player", simply because it is very adept at coming up with very efficient strategies, which are mainly a product of deeper insights and observations.
To me, that's also the "Sherlock Holmes" aspect: many natives with this one are pretty nosy, that's for sure. These folks will sniff around for clues, no matter what the obstacle is. Naturally, this formula gives more depth to the mind, thus preventing Mercury from being too unnecessarily superficial. Yet again, this combo provides the native with the opportunity to reach higher levels of consciousness as well.
Both Mercury and Pluto are alchemists in a sense that their functions always transmute the mind in various forms. That's the perfect chance for self-mastery in that direction, especially when someone has the challenging aspects in the natal chart or during transits. Don't go away from it - just embrace it. It's highly rewarding once when the obstacles are surmounted.

Do you have this aspect? How deep can you penetrate the subject of your interest?

Thanks for the articles. 🙂
I have Mercury opposite Pluto 1.25.
I can be intense. I'm aware of it and I tone it down when it comes to people. I would ask a million questions if I didn't control it. But interests such as science or art, I investigate until exhaustion. If I have a problem, I will map out all possible solutions before making a decision.
I know it was an analogy but I'm an excellent chess player too.
I will even let you be white.

one of my favs... i have the same aspect.
Bret Easton Ellis (March 7, 1964; Pluto opposite Mercury)
Born with Mercury tightly opposite Pluto, Ellis??s fiction has been thoroughly punctuated with Plutonian themes: corruption, decadence, depravity, decay, and murder. This generation x novelist has distinguished himself as the arch observer of the territory where bourgeois meets the Underworld. In his most famous novels—Less than Zero and American Psycho—Ellis documents the slow dissent of privileged, disaffected individuals into very dark terrain. With Ellis, we see crosshairs of where the yuppie psyche meets the dark topography of the murderous, licentious, and wicked. Ellis has received critical and popular condemnation for his work, as the graphic and explicit content of his novels are not for the faint of heart. Ellis??s brand of fiction is merely one particular expression of how the Pluto-Mercury interface can manifest itself.
The official origin of chess is unknown. Researched it a bit and India came up as the most probable winner. No doubt it was invented by someone with Plutonian flava.
