130,

I have been following the story for almost a year. I was hoping they would spare her her life. She was raped by her uncle and became pregnant and that made her automatically accused of the crime. She was only allowed to live as long as she had because of the infant. She was allowed to give birth and nurse him until weaned at six months and then they were going to stone her. I never was so sad and sick and cried in my whole life when I read what goes on! Makes you think about what it is you have here in this country!

PS: the man was not charged!

I really think everyone should read this story who hasn't followed it before posting. And no, the man was let off.

205..They never mentioned her being raped by an uncle in the story, but that's definately even more disturbing. I think it's really ashame that other countries haven't made progress with their laws as times change and can so easily sentence a person to such an inhumane death. I'm even a believer in the death penalty, but this certainly doesn't apply to something like this situation!

130,

This is not the same woman I was talking about, but a familiar story unfortunately! I can't describe my rage and sadness by what is happening to her and others!

Yes, Even God Must Get The Blues

Pick up any morning newpaper;
turn on the six o'clock news;
the Devil has been so busy lately
that even God must get the blues.

When this rain falls down
from Heaven, it
must be the angels crying
for all the sorrow
in the world tonight!

A young girl hides her face
in shame, so they can't see it
battered and bruised;
like shes the one
to blame!!!
Yes, even God
must get the blues.

God, stay close to Amina Lawal!

I have seen on the news before that in third world countries like Nigeria, the women are treated quite badly and get no respect--this has been going on for years--mainly due to thier poorly operated government and the fact that men in that country as well as others just simply aren't civilized enough (or at all). Does this create an excuse for them? F*** NO! THESE MEN OUGHT TO BE STONED.
