I have read this book years ago and reread it a few years ago
the read it again just yesterday
I don't usually read the same book over and over again
but this book gave me different feelings each time I have read it so far
they were each like in my early 20s, mid 20s and now late 20s
some books used to appeal me lots when I was teens, but when I read them later when I got older..they somehow had lost their charms that used to work on me .. I have a feeling that books, are like food, sometimes have some dates on them..not that one cannot read after the dates, but if they read within the dates, somehow one really can relate and feel fuller with their contents..just my thought
I used to read hermann hesse when I was in early teens or so..but I have not read his works for a while since then..the last time I reread his was in my early 20s.. I wonder if I get on his books again, maybe feelings I would have might be quite different from those I had in the past.. 🙂

anyways..
so I read this book and whilst I was with it, I had these thoughts - the characters in the book could stand for some star signs.. 🙂

like nicolas de innocents ..he must have been a gemini lol.. his way with women (such a womanizer lol)
he doesn't stop talking, asking..and cocky..but good with people (with not only ladies..), has a good imagination, quite clever in his own way..but some foolishness, too.. loves to make merriment .. I couldn't think of this guy being any other sign than a gemini, to be honest lol

georges the weaver from brussels.. he seems to be a capricorn.. he's serious about his business, and quite authoritative over his family.. and he's a practical man.. he's really good at what he does, a real professional after all 🙂

alienor.. I'm not sure, but probably a scorpion (well, I'm not really versed in astrology as much as I wish I were! lol).. she's quite but keen and mature.. she's consistent..unexpectedly bold, too.. also strong in her own way

philippe seems like a cancer to me.. he's a caring guy, if shy.. he has a big, good heart.. he's quiet but protective of his family, a woman he loves 🙂 he also senses things other men do not notice.. he's quite tuned with feelings, emotions, little details..(which considered to be feminine domains in the era of this book's time set)

christine.. I'm not sure.. maybe another capricorn like her husband..or maybe a virgo..she's a practical woman, too, like her man.. also shrewd.. she takes pride in the work she does

cluade le viste.. she must be either a fire or an air sign.. but I'm more inclined toward her being a fire sign.. probably an aries.. she's defiant, bold, passionate (maybe too passionate and probably too impatient..)

leon le vieux.. he may be either a virgo or a libra.. a sharp business man

genevieve de naterre.. I'm not sure about her lol (actually I'm not sure about lots of characters despite what I have been writing so far lol .. just some wild guesses here and there.. but I'm quite convinced that nicolas being a gemini lol) maybe she's a scorpion.. I cannot see her being an air sign.. she's too firm and reserved to be an air in my opinion 🙂 I don't know..

so has one read this book?
if so do you agree with what I wrote above regarding the star signs of the each character?

also I have read the same author's book..probably more broadly known one..girl with a pearl earring..
is there any one who read the book, too?
now thinking back..I think

now thinking back..I think griet, the female leading character of said book..probably is a water sign.. she cannot be an air sign..absolutely not lol that I'm sure for even if I have a very little knowledge on astrology hehehe

ah..and I'm thinking about getting on another books of this writer, tracy chevalier..probably the last runaway.. has anyone read this? if so, how was it? would you recommend it? 🙂

It's best you be a writer.

How about you just mix genres ?

is it meant to be a jest? hehehe I wouldn't know sometimes as english is not mother tongue..I don't get subtle nuiances at times! 😆

I did have been offered a writing job..about a decade ago I posted up one of my short stories on the net and some publishing company contacted me, asking if I could write a story for them.. I was very tempted, but had to decline.. because 1) the genre they wanted me to write as my first work as something different I wanted to write back then.. 2) and they wanted to update weekly..which I didn't think I would be able to.. I don't work well with set deadlines..:s

though I made some money..well, won money by writing some papers back in uni days.. there were some contests for academic essays and such, and I wrote some and got some prize money

some day..I am thinking..hopefully that I will publish one or two books under my name..maybe a travel logue or something.. if I become a professor then maybe more books hopefully get published on the subject that I have been studying lol

anyways..
so have you read the book? :o
or have you watched the movie based on the novel girl with a pearl earring, with starring scarlett johansson? 🙂
